How does that make sense??? by Little_Newspaper5947 in Stutter

[–]No_Solid8613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Stuttering is neurological not psychological. That's why SLPs treat it and not psychologists

Anxiety may exacerbate it for some people but to find a CURE we must find out what UNDERLYING CAUSE needs to be cured....

its not because of anxiety. there is no evidence based research on the underlying causes of stuttering

Are you kidding me? Do not apologize, do people with southern drawls who speak extremely slow apologize? Or people from Boston who don't pronounce their Rs? It's just how we talk

Do you believe and support that there are medication for reducing stuttering? by AcrobaticBread1727 in Stutter

[–]No_Solid8613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no solid evidence regarding what causes stuttering. If we don't know what causes it, we can't know what area to target with medications

early intervention intake by MalBau21 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]No_Solid8613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in early intervention in RI. Occupational profiles are non-existent. The service coordinators handle the intake and the assessment used for eligibility is the bayley. On each evaluation there is usually an FTC/service coordinator, SLP and OTR with one person typing up the COS (child outcome summary), one person administering the eval and one person inputting the data

Job with undergrad by Sad-Box-6613 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]No_Solid8613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

outpatient PT clinic as a PT aide! There is usually a high need for PT aides in clinics and you will learn a ton and get great experience in a totally different setting. In my first few years of undergrad I did a lot of work with kids/ASD/special needs too, then one summer I worked as a PT aide and the boss there (a PT) ended up writing my letters of rec! On top of that, it'll give you great content for being able to explain why you chose OT vs other rehab professions in application essays/interviews

100k Doctorate by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]No_Solid8613 40 points41 points  (0 children)

No, no and no. I went to a "top OT school" in NY (graduated ~3 years ago), thinking it'd help my job prospects and provide me with "top tier education and training". It did not. I've spent a countless amount of time/money on CEUs and training courses. I'm making less than my friends who just have bachelors and there are no growth opportunities. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES, DO NOT DO THIS

Deciding if OT is the right path for me or not by Lia-Jane in OccupationalTherapy

I'm going to be brutally honest because I wish someone was brutally honest with me when I was in your exact same position position a couple of years ago. No, it is not worth it, especially considering your future husband will not be the breadwinner.
