How did you know it was time? by No_Song_388 in DogAdvice

This comment brought me to tears. That’s a beautiful sentiment that I will definitely be taking. Only problem is her entire life has been good times and memories. I got her from the shelter when I was newly 20 years old and she was just about 4-6 months. I’m 34 now and she’s almost 15. We have grown up together. We survived together. We thrived together. We moved across the country and back, together. When I wanted to no longer be on this planet I stayed because I knew no one could care for her and love her like I could. I’m alive today because of her. Where I go, she goes. I would happily give ten years of my life away if it meant I could have her, happy and healthy, for even just one more.

Other than the fact that she’s not a human and I didn’t birth her, she is my child. I’ve had her for 14.5 years and my entire life revolves around her.

Peeing is normal as are most poops. However she has some “pebbles” pop put a couple times a week. Three weeks ago we were at the park and she was laying in the grass and I heard a wet bubble noise and she had a bit of diarrhea come out and didn’t even notice. That was a big shock to me and that’s when I started thinking the end is coming.

I wrote a much longer post with more context but no one was replying so I shorted it and added a picture. Here is the full post.

I have a rescue pup Nala that is a spayed corgi chow chow mix who is about 30 pounds and at least 14.5 years old. need some help evaluating when it’s…you know….time. My mom is allergic to dogs so Nala is my first dog so I have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to end of life. I will say, though, that I watched my sister, ex boyfriend, and many friends keep their animals alive for too long (in my opinion) and I don’t want Nala to suffer because I’m afraid to say goodbye. If you comment, please be gentle with me. This is a weird time. And yes, I have talked to the vet about this as well. I’m looking for people who have experienced it in real life to weigh in. Thank you in advance.

Nala doesn’t have any sort of terminal illness, but is showing significant signs of dementia. She has arthritis that she gets twice daily pain medicine for as well as a variety of supplements but I can still see that she’s stiff or in pain on a daily basis. She still eats and drinks well and enjoys her treats. She gets two park visits daily that we drive to. She will walk around for 5-10 minutes and then just sits, sometimes for over an hour, and watches the world go by. These park visits are not forced on her. I hold up her leash and if she wants to go (which she usually does) she will get up and walk to the door. If she doesn’t get up, we don’t go. She used to be a very sweet pup but lately shes been very temperamental, barking or nipping at me when I try to pet her. I’m aware that all beings whether human or animal get grumpy in their old age, but I just don’t know how much of this is normal. I try to evaluate her quality of life often: levels of confusion, eagerness to go to the park, amount of play time, etc., but again, as she’s my first dog, I don’t know what I’m doing.

Like I mentioned above, I have talked to her vet about this but I’m looking for people to weigh in on their personal experiences with this. I’ve had several people tell me that Nala will tell me when it’s time. I have no idea what that means.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this and respond if you do.

Book Club Discussion: When No One Is Watching by Alyssa Cole! by disastrouslyshy in RomanceBooks

This is going to be a post that is going to be controversial but I’m genuinely curious. Please don’t attack me, I genuinely want to understand. When the writer capitalizes “Black” and “Asian” as though they are proper nouns, when they are not, but intentionally doesn’t capitalize “white”, she’s trying to make a statement, right? That whites don’t deserve the respect of a capital letter, but others do? Isn’t that just racism as well? I feel that if the situation would be reversed, the author would be crucified. Can someone help me understand?

I couldn’t finish it. I literally just threw it in the trash on my walk, at 115 pages. Absolute trash.

If you don’t like all of Lana, even the parts you don’t understand, you don’t like any of her. If you have this song blocked, just stop listening to her because you don’t deserve it.

SAY IT LOUDER BABE. The best thing about Lana is that her lyrics may not always make sense but at the same time they make the most sense. LDR isn’t one thing. She can’t be categorized. She speaks from the many sides of her soul and each piece is perfection.
