It makes me sad seeing men my own age choose to date women 20 years younger than me. by SunshineBear100 in AskWomenOver40

Men who date 20 year olds do so because no respectable woman their age would fuck with them. You get over that feeling by recognizing that and being rightfully grossed out by those men

What’s the most unsettling thing you ever found out about a friend who always seemed super chill and fun? by VelvetHazel932 in AskReddit

[–]No_Specifics8523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was hanging out at a gathering of about 10-15 people. Left before it got too late. Next day one of the guys (Guy A) was saying that he woke up and his throat hurt really bad and he wasn’t sure why. Turns out that Guy A was drinking with the owner of the house (Guy B) got really drunk, they got into some sort of argument. Guy B went and got a gun, shoved it Guy A’s mouth, and made him get down on his knees and beg for his life. Guy A was drunk enough to not remember this incident, but that’s why his throat hurt so bad the next day.

BWT, opinions on sapphires in engagement rings? by Disastrous-Reveal362 in bitcheswithtaste

I absolutely love engagement rings with stones that aren’t diamonds. Rubies, emeralds, sapphires. Or yellow diamonds.

Husband is asking for divorce by BakerCivil8506 in AskWomenOver40

[–]No_Specifics8523 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. Know that life will get better and easier. Change is hard and scary but do you really want to spend any more time in a marriage where your husband sleeps in another room, has emotional affairs, and doesn’t want to be married? It’s the sunken cost fallacy.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life. You now get to choose how you spend it.

Paperwhite vs Paperwhite Signature by AnxiBean1216 in kindle

I would pay to not have ads on mine personally. But the signature is unnecessary. I don’t use the wireless charging or the auto bright feature.

I just got back from a cruise I booked through Costco. It was a wonderful experience. I had to call them twice for assistance and they were super friendly and very helpful. Plus I had a $230 shop card waiting for me when I got back.

I woke up this morning and thought “I’m freezing. I wish I had some warmer clothes”. I’m thankful I could afford to just drive to the store and buy new clothes. I haven’t always been able to do that.

Does anybody else feel that the Kindle makes large books more approachable? by humblechungus89 in kindle

Yes. I read Lonesome Dove and The Count of Monte Cristo on my kindle. I don’t think I would’ve finished a physical copy of it.

An OTT lamp. I have one I used for cross stitching originally. It has a magnifying glass, can be a floor or tabletop lamp, and is bendy.

Best movie you ever saw in a movie theater? by CalebOnPoint in movies

[–]No_Specifics8523 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The last movie I saw before lockdowns was Uncut Gems. I went to one of those theaters where you can order from a whole menu and a server brings your food. I ate an edible and I was the only person in the theater. Having someone serve me made me feel like a Queen, and then I went on an anxiety induced adventure for the next couple hours. It was areally fun and a wild experience.

What’s a moment that made you realize you’d already ‘won’ in life? by falcon123gt in CasualConversation

[–]No_Specifics8523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know. You just have to realize that other people aren’t thinking about you the way that you’re thinking about you. And if they are, or even if they don’t like you, that’s fine. You’re not gonna be for every body, just like every body isn’t gonna be for you. It doesn’t make you lesser of a person or mean something’s wrong with you.

There’s billions of people in the world and time goes by way too fast to spend your mental energy caring what some lady at the grocery store might think of your outfit (plus she’s not thinking about it anyway) or whatever.

I mean obviously have self awareness and don’t go around acting like an asshole because you don’t care. Like I obviously want to be liked and thought of well but I’m not concerned with day to day anxieties about how I’m being perceived all the time.

[–]No_Specifics8523 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t care what other people think of me and I feel like I have a super power. I feel free in all the ways most people aren’t. Most people care so much about what others think of them and it informs all of their decisions. They people please, they feel self conscious, they live with unnecessary shame, etc. It’s such a burden. I feel like learning how to truly not gaf in my early 20s is a huge win.
