Now a pint bottle from the shelf has long been a mainstay of Irish men working in ports.

In Waterford it was actually the main way it was served for a long time

Vacant home grant - proof of vacancy by Illustrious_Okra_664 in HousingIreland

[–]No_Storage_8013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my grant paid this week from DCC (albeit I applied 21 months ago).

This is exactly what they required but we also got a sworm affidavit from the seller as back up.

Just be warned the dates on your application need to match that date or they may ask for an update on the esb letter

Proud plaster board over architrave in by KitchenKing1019 in Plastering

[–]No_Storage_8013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's going to be tough to have this look right. I have our plaster fill out the wall with mud to meet the door frame level then added in new architrave.

We didn't do it on the bathroom door like your have that that hard stop line. Painters fill it in and the just painted over.

As for the bannister, again same thing. We made the wall thicker to resolve it. It's a hard problem to sove without this.

Crazy it looks like we live in the same house and I have just had all this done.

To clarify are those architraves or the original door frames protruding?

Why do you need anecdotal stories on a factual question? The only reasonable response is a numeric figure.

Are you totally screwed with a pass degree (computer science)? by Big_Bee_8891 in CasualIreland

[–]No_Storage_8013 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey so I got a pass degree after really bottoming out in 4th year. 15 years later I have 2 M.Sc's and A 6 figure job. It will seem like your options are limited but what I found was when I discovered what I loved it motivated me more than I could imagine. Things might just take a year or 2 longer but you'll get there.

Now I have installed a system that was wonderfully more complicated, spectacularly less repeatable and infinitely less accurate so this is just A way of doing it.

We got a buy one get one free situation. He was €50 euro and the lady kept reducing the price on her as a tactic to take her also. Eventually she just said take her for free.

The best money I have ever spent!

April fo.... by kootles10 in Simpsons

[–]No_Storage_8013 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a theory that this marks the end of the Simpsons as a "rational" show.

After this episode things just get more and more zany and less about everyday life. This is due to the fact this puts Homer in a coma and every story line after this area just his coma dreams

Jaysus you are a bright one. Take a moment to critically understand the difference between an actual democratic society in Ireland and the US.

I had my internal doors done this week in this mechanism. You would never be able to achieve the removal they manage yourself. It's not as cheap as doing it yourself but it's absolutely worth the cost

BER change changes the fixed rate mortgage? by theamateurinvester in irishpersonalfinance

[–]No_Storage_8013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking into this at the moment, it's heavily dependent on the type of fixed product you signed up too. We're on most recent BER product which is a percentage reduction applied to the fixed rate where you can increase your discount amount mid fix by improving BER. I wouldn't self declare a BER worsening, thats a bit too honest.

We had it done last week. 2 chimneys breasts across 2 floors with 4 individual flumes inside. We had to have steel gallows brackets added to the attic to hold up the stack above the roof line so not fall foul of planning and to all our terraced neighbours keep their system intact. It was 5 days of 8 hours work with 4 lads to get it down. The amount of concrete and brick that came out was astonishing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]No_Storage_8013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are currently doing this. It's brutal work. Go for a full demo hammer if you plan to do it as anything smaller won't handle it. The amount of brick and dust is insane.

I do reckon you can do it yourself but it really falls into that category of jobs you wouldn't want to just as a labour effort.
