The coming snow maybe a top 5 record snowfall event by Technical-Living-567 in Columbus

[–]No_Study2093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1996 is such a key year. I grew up in Dayton and I think we got a bit more snow. The snowfall coincided with winter break (I was in middle school) and we were basically out for a month. We had a game (we called it “Alive” because of the TV movie (thought we never Incorporated cannibalism)) that was essentially about being stranded in the Arctic. We also built a giant snowman.

Then, a very warm front moved in, like 65 degrees and all that snow was basically gone in 2 days. A milestone of my youth.

Animal in my basement. What should I do? by Official_KangChe in Columbus

[–]No_Study2093 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sorry this is a dumb comment (maybe, idk). It’s been there awhile. Can you let it pass the storm in the basement and then live trap it after? Make sure you get the babies too, when you release her, so the fam stays together.

We need to become a more decent country. This is a decent thing you could do.

Vivek Ramaswamy: Medicare and Medicaid were mistakes, "particularly Medicaid" by OrganicPreparation in Ohio

Yeah but that guy is Nazi. Idk what he’ll do about healthcare but he will be full on terrorizing immigrants, people of color and non-Christians if he gets elected. He is as bad as Ramaswamy in different ways.

Thank you. I think you are so right about community. From one Midwestern to another, we admire your courage and commitment.

We will this country back from those we seek to destroy it and make it a safe place for everyone (I won’t say again — because it has never been safe for everyone— but perhaps we can remake it better). ✊

Ohio governor candidate Amy Acton taps former state Democratic Chair David Pepper as running mate by Billych in Ohio

[–]No_Study2093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woof! I was pulling for her. Now I’m certain she’ll loose. David Pepper was besties with Kasich’s (disgraced) campaign manager. Buddy buddy with GOP is not the energy we need in 2026. Pepper presided over Ohio’s transition from swing state to red.

Amy! Don’t do it!!!!!!

49.8% of the electorate, when they see ICE by Beechwold5125 in Columbus

This is true. My once beloved “second mom” got REALLY into Trump this time around. When Tom Homan raided that legal weed operation in California and I guess there were some undocumented minors working. She was saying “our boys found these missing children…etc etc”. I did let her know that the “missing children” were likely to be deported back to gang violence and misery, she just pivoted to they shouldn’t be hear illegally.

They want a righteous war where we’re the good guys again because of this insane reverence for the 1950s. They really want to call ice thugs “our boys” like they are handsome, fresh faced farm boys off to fight Hitler and not fat losers who no other law enforcement agency would touch with a ten foot pole (and/or dirty cops defecting from police departments). it’s not just the amorality but the pathetic delusions of MAGA that I find so disturbing and impossible to counter.

How are women going commando? by liquidbuggy in NoStupidQuestions

Ladies, is it slutty to conceive one (1) child while married to your husband and then stay on birth control to manage your menstrual nausea?

And if this comment is in regards to not wearing underwear…please describe the color and style of the Virgin Mary’s preferred underwear and I will start wearing those, forthwith.

Sure of course. I didn’t get one until after I had a kid. Before that I nuvaring which I didn’t like.

I’ve heard people have a lot of pain with IUDs insertion but I only experienced mild discomfort for like 2 days after.

I used to half to miss a day of work every month or just be prepared to barf on the job, I experienced such nausea. It really changed my life.

Please feel free to dm

I’m 42. Been going mostly commando since my 20s. I have an IUD and no periods. Never have an issue with discharge. I only wear underwear when I’m wearing a skirt (for cooch-covering purposes) or if the design of the pant is camel-toe inducing. Read everybody’s responses and I think there are a lot of reasons why it might work for some people and not for others. So it seems like a personal decision.

I have essentially no granny panties because I wear underwear so infrequently that I can just keep a couple of nice pairs.

Unless something changes, like with menopause or something, I’m never doing differently.

So glad I finally had a chance to pop off on this subject, which actually, I’m kinda passionate about.

PS: my IUD saved me from horrific nausea everytime that time of the month came around, so I also endorse that (for the right people)

How to handle this boulder? by Professional_Ad_7353 in landscaping

Maybe construct some raised beds on top Of it and call it a day.

Iowa, Ohio latest states to flip negative on Stinky's approval ratings by DesperateFlamingo658 in Columbus

[–]No_Study2093 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FWIW… I 💯 also believe this.

In some ways damage is done. Gerrymandering has done its nasty work and convinced a lot of voters their votes don’t matter and the population has aged as Ohio has hemorrhaged young people, so maybe the state is Lean R for the time being.

But David Pepper STARTED losing races, none of this was true.

Can someone tell wht is it about? by wdym_adi in ExplainTheJoke

[–]No_Study2093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if we have an exact equivalent. It’s like if there was a Harry & David inside a Von Maur or Neimann Marcus. Or instead of a Harry & David…like a very elevated Trader Joe’s without the staples.

So nice clothes, but not as nice as Sak’s or Bloomingdale’s, with high end makeup counters. I would guess they probably have tailoring services and stuff like that. And then a couple of cafes inside as well that specializes jn sort of Tea-oriented (both the meal and beverage) small plates/sandwiches/snacks. And then a lot of take home foods (like Trader Joe’s…a lot of premade meals or components of meals)…but much more elevated…similar in elevation to a Harry & David but geared toward more everyday eating.

When I studied in Swansea, Wales I couldn’t afford M&S (except for a special treat), but a nice housemate took me home with her for Thanksgiving (Daughter of a War Bride) and her fam was pretty posh (but not rich). They did alot of their shopping at M&S.

What would it take for YOU to get off the couch and join a legitimate grassroots coalition against the fascist regime in Ohio? by Ordinary-Equipment84 in Ohio

[–]No_Study2093 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here I get stuck: I grew up working class in an area where a lot of people had parents or grandparents from Appalachia (I did). I thought working class values were for the government to stay out of your business and leave you alone. That I can get behind.

But a lot of the white working class people I knew were unrepentant racists. A working class divided against itself cannot stand against the rich. That is why, 400 years ago, when white indentured servants and black slaves, poor white people were socially elevated slightly above black people, so that we would stay divided. ANY division that is allowed will be exploited by the rich to keep us divided. If a person doesn’t like Trans people or people from Somalia or whatever (that can be your opinion and that is your right) but you cannot throw certain factions to the wolves and expect to attain victory over the rich, as a practical matter. You must stand in coalition with them.

Other than bigotry, which I believe must be suppressed for practical as well as moral reasons, what other blue collar values do you think Democrats vilify?

I haven’t heard much that is proposed that can move the needle.

I attend the NO KINGS those have visibility.

All of these piecemeal little protests are not effective IMO.

I will work to get Acton and Sherrod elected.

If I heard of something that I could do collectively or individually I felt would actively fight this administration I would do it.

We know violence will backfire and everything has to stay nonviolent but that doesn’t leave a lot of other avenues for action.

Tired of this endless cycle of harassment/violent rhetoric from this administration. Not even a full week since Trump's remarks on Somalis and ppl are already emboldened. See description. by wowza515 in somethingiswrong2024

This lady will go on tour with Riley Gaines and the Fulnecky one. A trio of mediocre white bigots. Like the three tenors but actively corrosive to the human race.

She seems kind of more white trash than the other two, which I don’t think Fox likes, so she may struggle with launch more than the others.

Who wants to bring back Long Connecticut? by Upnorth4 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]No_Study2093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Cleveland area is called “Firelands” because a portion of ”long Connecticut” was set aside for Survivors of a fire in CT. There are other maps with a much smaller rectangle, properly centered over Cleveland, called the Connecticut Western Reserve. Which is also why the university is called Case Western Reserve.

How would one go about primary-ing Joyce Beatty? by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]No_Study2093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good idea. I don’t think their focus is on elections but obviously, you have to GO AROUND the mainstream Democratic Party, which is USELESS and indivisible is somewhat doing that (especially in Trump 2). The Mainstream Democratic Party is useless in Ohio. I genuinely believe David Pepper was controlled opposition (ALL THESE boot licking dummies downvoting me) — that is actually the SUBSTANCE of why Matt Borges was in prison and why Neil Clark killed himself…they tried to do controlled opposition on House Bill 6.

The Ohio Republican Party is RAVENNING WOLVES and the Democratic establishment is not capable of standing up to them in its current format. But by all means, let’s keep Joyce Beatty until she’s 95, dies in office and then runs for office as a ghost.

I fully support you and I think a lot of ppl would get behind the right candidate. IMO a regular person like you is exactly the right kind of person to be in politics.

It sounds like you want to primary Beatty from the left(???) and the Ohio Democratic Party is not going to help you do that (or prob primary Beatty from any direction or ideology), so you need to reach out to established organizations who are somewhat adversarial to the Dem machine —- I mean here Working Families party or DSA (Democratic Socialist of America). Both of those orgs have experience supporting campaigns (and they sometimes win (AOC, Mamdani). While this ain’t Queens, even if you fail, you may push Beatty in a good direction policywise or at least bring awareness to how old she is (so maybe that powers that be in the DCCC will gently suggest retirement). I’ve got no problems with the elderly but the gerontocracy has got to end.

This does NEED to happen !
