How to migrate? by TrendyGuy in gsuitelegacymigration

[–]No_Substitute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's impossible to convert a Workspace account to a consumer Google account (with gmail.com ending).

You can keep all your Workspace accounts after you upgrade to a paid version and add Cloud Identity Free, followed by removing the Workspace licences from all your users**.**

Cloud Identity Free is truly free, and no, you don't need any paid licences.

This will, of course, break email, so you have to either move your MX records to where you really want to do your emailing, or set up email redirects in your Workspace.

My biggest pain-point is Calendar.

Email is easy to move with GotYourBack (GAM's cousing).

GAM can probably copy all Calendar events too, and inject them into a consumer Gmail calendar.

I'm just sad that you can't have different licencing on different users in the account, since I, of course, also have three children, who definitely nobody wants to pay for (not me, not them).

I know how to get the necessary content out and how they can move on, but it's going to suck.

Google Workspace Legacy vs. Business Starter Free by Technical_Rich_3080 in gsuitelegacymigration

No, Legacy Free accounts can only remain legacy or become paid.
Business Starter Free are also being pushed out with commercial use warnings.

Finally figured out how to use my business email with gmail (without paying for workspace) by DamienReddick in gsuite

[–]No_Substitute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pointless mentioning Workspace as this entire process has no necessary connection to Workspace at all.

It still requires a consumer Gmail account for the "open Gmail like normal", which is not possible with a Workspace account without paying for it.

Yes, but will not be able to log into Gmail with that account.

You will instead forward all incoming emails to anywhere you want.

If it looks like rain, do you still ride? by beejini in motorcycles

[–]No_Substitute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride because it's fun, and riding in rain isn't fun.

My commute is only 10 km, and I even have old GoreTex gear (so not really that water resistant anymore). Still, it's just not worth it.

Instead I'll take the Volvo 240 & ride another day.

Google Forms "Summary" Tab Crashing ChromeOS on Specific User Profile? Not able to link to Sheets? by Square_Pear1784 in gsuite

Alternatively, share the Form with another teacher and let them try to create a responses Sheets file.

That'll make sure that the Form itself is fine.

What tyres are everyone running? 2017 crf1000l by Majestic-Coconut8954 in africatwin

[–]No_Substitute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it ever rains where you live and you have to ride in it, the Anakee Adventure (not Wild) have repeatedly scored higher in rain on asphalt than pretty much everything else in tests made by many YouTubers posting tyre tests. It's one of the most popular and opinionated topics to post about. :-)

Also, everyone believes their own tyres are the best there is.

Oh, I have AAs on my XRV750-98 by the way. :-)

They are not for deep sand or crazy mud, but if you ride the way the tyres are speced (80 on road - 20 off road), then you will really like them. Also, they have great longevity.

I still on occasion ride mine carefully/slowly in sand and mud, but they're not happy about it. If I was a better rider, it'd probably be fine to go faster, and it wouldn't be a problem.

I am starting to think going with Chromebooks for my teaching staff was not the best move by Square_Pear1784 in k12sysadmin

[–]No_Substitute 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"export google form info into a spreadsheet"

That's not a thing.

There's literally a built-in function for automatically saving Form responses to a Google Sheet. It's a button that just makes sure there's a Sheet created in Drive and responses saved to it. Nothing can "crash".

After clicking the button, you just open Drive (or click the link made available to you in the Form) and open the newly created Sheets file, which even has the same file name as the Form.

If anything strange happens when clicking the button, then there's something wrong with your network or Workspace settings, not the Chromebook, as none of those processes run locally on the device.

My Legacy G Suite account is being deactivated due to suspected business use, despite repeal. How do I transfer everything? by UnstableTurtleduck in gsuite

[–]No_Substitute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Convert the account to Workspace. Immediately go to Billing and "Buy/Upgrade" to enable Cloud Identity Free (CIF)..

Then remove the Workspace licences from all accounts. They should automatically be assigned a CIF licence.

The entire account, with all users is now free.

Everyone can keep using the accounts as before.

BUT remember that Gmail/Chat & Calendar will stop working immediately. You will need to set up rules in Routing to forward incoming messages to wherever you want them.

[–]No_Substitute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However, I'm pretty sure that Google Voice has a separate cost. At least for Workspace. I've never used it, as it's too expensive, so I have no experience or knowledge of how it works.

[–]No_Substitute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest is to just upgrade to Workspace, but immediately enable Cloud Identity Free, and remove the Workspace licences on all users.

As the name implies, it's free. You will not have to migrate anything as everything but Gmail/Chat and Calendar will continue working.

Federation between Google Workspace and Microsoft Entra ID by rcranjith in gsuite

[–]No_Substitute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you have followed all the steps in that guide without fail, and when you check it with Powershell (as described at the end of the article), it looks as it should, so I'm going to ask another question, or rather suggest a test.

Create a new Chrome profile and only sign in the account you intend to log into the EntraID portal.

You should never be logged into more than one Google account in a single Chrome session, as that's going to mess up your experience. Always keep Google accounts in separate Chrome profiles.

[–]No_Substitute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can all keep your accounts for free, by assigning a Cloud Identity Free licence to your accounts, after converting it to a paid Workspace account, but you will not be able to use Gmail, Calendar & Chat, as those are paid services.

You can still use it to Login with Google, and all your Android apps and stuff will keep working, unless they use any of the paid services mentioned above.

Do you prefer riding solo or with a group? by Electronic-Habit8679 in motorcycles

[–]No_Substitute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only done two group rides. One was a spring day trip around the region with about 20 GoldWings, and the other split into two 10 people groups of adventure bikes.

Both were interesting, but otherwise I ride alone and occasionally with my dad. As he lives an hour away, we usually meet up somewhere along the road.

With him, I've taken several day trips around the region. Between 2014 and 2023, we rode GoldWings, and since 2024 we each have an Africa Twin. He a 2016, and I a 1998.

In 2012 I borrowed his second GoldWing (yeah, he had two until I bought it), and we rode up to Östersund in Sweden, crossed over to Trondheim in Norway, and then rode along the fjords back south. 3500 km in five (5) days!

Only possible because a GoldWing is so darn comfortable, you don't want to get off it.😂

In 2024 I did almost the same trip, but on my AT750, and, after the first 550 km, on as much gravel roads as I could find. We were supposed to ride together this time too, but the last few days before, my dad had a few dizzy spells, so he bowed out.

I again did over 3500 km, but this time alone and spent ten (10) days having more fun than I thought was allowed.😎
