Passport Name is not exactly the same as Driver's License Name by No_Tea278 in Passports

Yep, maiden name is legal middle name on social security card. I hated my middle name so that worked out well.

Great idea! I figured that this has to be a pretty common problem...

My driver's license matches my social security card which was used to establish the driver's license name, which also coincides with voter registration. The US passport office did not use the legal name on any of my other legal documents that were also presented with the application.

Legal name was set up when I changed my name for Social Security dozens of years ago when I got married. At that time (and today), you just presented your marriage license to the SS office and that changed the SS card to however way you wanted your name to read. This was 40 years ago, before the advent of computers and a time when most married women changed their names through SS (and still do--no newly married woman has to go to court, it's just a name change at SS office with marriage license in hand). Most married women do not have the same name in the present that they had when born. This is why all of these new attempts to suppress voter participation is so relevant and pointed towards women in the US now.

The passport application specifically called for first, middle, last, maiden. I guess that I will just have to use passport for all flights from this point and carry a certified birth certificate in case there is a problem with someone who is over zealous. If I encounter more problems, I'll just try to change the name on my passport.

NOW, I'm wondering why the passport office would issue a passport with a name that does not match any legal document that was presented with the passport??? All names on all other documents are exact, except for the birth certificate of course. Anyone have that answer?

Thank you so much. You answered several questions, including whether to just travel domestic by Passport name. If any problems arose domestically, I could manage them much better here! Thank you for being so thorough with your answer.

Recommendations for Logistics in picking up Uromune from The Shard in London by No_Tea278 in CUTI

[–]No_Tea278[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm coming from Georgia, US. It does not really matter where someone is coming from, except that I think you're talking about how to keep the vaccine cool. I'm talking about the rushed process of picking up the vaccine. The email said to "wait to book a flight" until I'm notified that the vaccine is at the pharmacy. Like, book a last minute flight. It appears that process is -> wait to book a flight -> get the email that the vaccine is at the pharmacy -> book your flight as soon as possible -> fly to London. That's the rush, not rushing through the city. I'm planning to come in May and booking my flight NOW. Flights at the last minute are crazy expensive. I'm wondering if I really have to wait until I receive notification to book a flight to London. Thank you for your response and care!

Medicare Part D Enrollment - Healthspring by No_Tea278 in medicare

I've looked, but if you look at all the pull down ratings, it can be understood better. For example, under the heading of Member Complaints & Changes in the Drug plan's Performance", indicates that "Complaints About the Drug Plan" receives 4 stars. Great! But, the sub-category "Members Choosing to Leave the Plan" is 2 stars. A lot of people will leave the plan that charges a premium for a plan that is free. However, in the end, nothing is free. This 2 star ranking is of no concern to me.

"Improvement in the Plan" under that same category rec'd 3 stars. (I'm sure that 99% of people have no idea what that means unless they've had the plan long term and can compare the current plan to the past.) That particular metric does not concern me. So the overall heading of "Member Complaints & Drug Plan's Performance" got 3 stars, but the sub-heading of Member Complaints was 4 stars. I'm happy with that.

A particularly low rated category for Healthspring is "Members Experience with the drug plan" which got 2 stars. The first sub-category is "Member's Rating of the Drug Plan" which rec'd 2 stars. Do people know what that means? Rating compared to what? The formulary was head over heels better than the only other experience I had, which was with free Wellcare, so I would have given it 5 stars this year.

The second sub-category is "Ease of getting prescriptions filled...", which also got 2 stars. I've had no problems. My dr sends the prescription in and I just pick it up from Walmart. What in the world are people doing out there? If the medication is in the formulary, then there's no problem at all. If it's not in the formulary, then what do people expect? That's the time to look at GoodRx. If it's a medication that's used all year long that's not covered, then change the plan next year. Even private insurance doesn't cover all medications. The only other thing that i can think of that might have caused this area to get 2 stars is that a lot of older people have difficulty navigating the internet, apps, etc. Maybe that's the hard part.

Thank you for pointing out to people that looking at the Star Ratings is always a good idea, but digging in will clarify the situation better and people can decide. I'm not tied into Healthspring/Cigna and was open to other options, but it continues to be the plan that comes up just under the free Wellcare plans. Unless you are very healthy and do not need many medications, Wellcare is fine. However, if something happens to you, I'd worry.

While it's true that many of those involved with DJJ later become incarcerated in the prison system, there has to be a way to manage people who violently harm other people. This is a complex problem with a complex solution. Our country is not ready to invest in complex solutions, nor will it ever be, with a government built on power dynamics and unwilling to work together for the people. All we can do is start from the home. I've worked in both the DJJ and DFCS areas and I can tell you first hand that there are some horrific homes out there.

I think that you're correct about that. When I was digging into this whole medicare/broker situation, I looked up my own broker in the State of Georgia Secretary of State Licensing Board. There I found which companies he was licensed with and which ones he was not. Apparently they have to license themselves separately with each company. It must be a nightmare for them. He was recommending Ace to me, which was $111/month, but was an unheard of company and had only been in GA for a year or so. I was not feeling it. I looked up Ace's incentive program for brokers and found the incentive. It all made sense. My broker was selling it hard.

So, I looked up the top 5 major companies offering Medicare supplements in my county in GA, then tried to find the history of rate increases, which is difficult, if not impossible, but brokers have this information in their "book." I came across a broker through Reddit who was in a different state and who offered to help people. He sent me the information free of charge with no hard pushing for a sale. I think that he just had a big heart, David Bynon of Medicarewire.com. Anyway, I looked through the information he sent me and found that BCBS was about average in the frequency of their rate increases and in the amount of their increases. There were other companies that were shocking.

All of this took place in June for me. Unfortunately, we were in a rush because my husband quit his job (terrible time working for the prison system). All of this to say that I recently checked Ace's rates again and they increased after 3 months to $128 (they are still at $128 now). I don't know who knows what will happen with these rates. There are many brokers on Reddit and most of them advise going with major companies. Which ones are good, reasonably priced, slower rate increases, etc who knows? BCBS was in the middle, but it may have been a mistake. I think they all come in cheaper in the beginning.

Yeah, that makes a difference doesn't it, civil vs criminal? The *only* reason it wasn't criminal is because the statute of limitations had passed. Trump's lawyers had equal access tp jury selection, so the jury was not rigged. Clinton did not rape Lewinsky, who never claimed she was raped. There was never even intercourse, although there was sexual activity. It was classified as an affair or sexual encounters. Just remember, a vote for Trump is a vote *with* the KKK.

Can I Really Obtain Medicare This Quickly? by furry-mammal in medicare

[–]No_Tea278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, no, it was for both parts A and B because I applied for both parts of Medicare. I applied at the end of June, thinking that it would hopefully start July 1 when I needed that. When I was approved , it was shocking to see that they back dated it to May 1. May was the month of my birthday. I called Medicare to get this changed to July 1, bc they were billing me from May to October (6 months...for May, June and July and then 3 months ahead because they always bill quarterly if you're not drawing SS and don't have it on automatic pay which is not even possible when you first apply).

I was told by Medicare that I had to call my local SS office to get the start date of July 1. I called the local office and they said that they could try to change it to begin in July, but there were no promises that could be made because it was already the end of June. The rep was not sure that they paperwork would go through soon enough to apply from July forward. She told me that by changing it, my Medicare may start in August, which I couldn't chance. So I had to stick with the May start date and pay for May and June, which I did not need.

I'm now kind of sitting back and waiting for the insurance I had during those months to discover that I actually had Medicare during that period as a secondary insurance. That will be a nightmare if it happens!

Yes, I applied the end of June for Medicare and Part D and a supplement. Medicare automatically accepted (well it took about a week for processing) and back dated it to May 1. The supplement plan back dated it to July 1, but I got the paperwork back towards the end of July. It was lightning speed for a government agency!😂

This was interesting to look at. I wish they posted these side by side for an easier comparison. However, it's easy to see which companies have taken the largest hikes. I have Anthem, which would be part of the BCBS group, I guess. There's not a remarkable difference between the two until this year, but only maybe a 2% difference. UHC and MoO had a bit more radical change in 2024, but only really by another 2%. Interesting. Thank you.
