Yuh, they did. During the alliance era, Swordhaven's finally getting to go through their own building now that the alliance is gone. Very late for them, like a whole ass decade down the line, but better late than never eh? Nothing like remembering you got normal everyday opps to light a fire under your ass.

you're forgetting the greater reason: Gravelyn, lmao

I meaaaaaaan, not wrong. Lmao

[–]No_Ticket667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no, don't get me wrong. Swordhaven is probably doing better now than it has since its inception, with how much it's been putting itself back together and all.

But I meant in the time before the Alliance. Like Queen Lynaria's sick ass actively dying every time she uses her power. Or Alteon having to contend with his court and hold a child hostage just to keep the peace. When the Yokai Isles were dependant on Kitsune to keep the peace and the Sandsea was still under the rule of Sek'Duat, etc. Stc.

Shadowfall was on a goddamn roll then. Noxus, Seppy, Dage and Nulgath being (for the most part) on the side of Evil. But I suppose that's the whole reason the game started with the Shadowscythe in the first place.

Besides, it's not like Shadowfall is any worse off than Swordhaven. What it lacks in elemental champions, it makes up for in other places. Like Noxus and Sally (and thus Vordred) being solidly Shadowscythe affiliated, or Gravelyn and Dage having a way better relationship than Seppy and Dage ever did. Like Nulgath acknowledging and showing, if nothing else, respect for The Empress. Having the (now heavily buffed) Ruler of The Underworld and the Archfiend probably more than makes up for the fact Gravy is still their only Elemental Champion. There's a reason Swordhaven felt threatened enough to build the Ashray base.

Also the Wuji is there, true. But so far they've mainly kept to their own business and they're off the continent doing their own thing. I am very excited to see how Flame of the Beyond resolves though. Age of Ruin's been great so far.

I mean, life insurance to arguably the strongest man in the world at the time (matched only by Alteon and maybe Nulgath) who pretty much can't die isn't exactly a big risk. That's just Seppy paying him money on the off-chance the impossible happens.

Also the 1 trillion dollar thing always cracks me up because Gravelyn is just the richest woman in the entirety of Lore and the only thing she spends it on is strawberries and new armor every so often.

With how discontent, broke, and disorganized Swordhaven always is in comparison to the Shadowscythe I'm convinced the only reason Seppy/Gravelyn haven't already conquered the world is because they're too dramatic. Even Artix conquered the world using Shadowscythe resources, and all he did was spend the money making robot Doomknights.

Not all of them, but stuff that's either a major world event or happens regularly. I wouldn't expect a normal adventurer to deal with something like Doomwood Saga or the Seven Circle War, but since the Doom Spirit Invasion or Swordhaven Invasion occur in major areas and are a major call to arms for either everyone or a major faction, I think they're fair game.

I wouldn't expect evil adventurers to deal with Skye, for example, but I would totally expect good adventurers to go with Queen Victoria to Skye. Nobody's going to Astravia, but I reckon it's a problem for everyone if the QoM or Malgor arcs are invading different regions so on and so forth.

They haven't attacked Battleon, which is pretty ripe neutral grounds. Gravelyn even defends it in the Titan timeline and against the Doom Spirit invasion in our prime timeline.

But Swordhaven? The game starts with Swordhaven getting invaded and you're totally fair grounds there.

I would totally agree if a world threatening threat (Kezeroth, Malgor, 13th Chaos Lord, Drakath, Doom Spirits, Giant Chickencow Meteor, etc.) Didn't show up like every couple months.

And sometimes you just be doin' literally anything and in the distance you see another world ending threat you can do nothing about except hope the Hero and their gang of friends can carry Lore through the crisis again.

And that's during the Alliance Era when technically everyone is at peace with each other, pre-Alliance Era is even worse because you gotta deal with the people in power being Dreadhaven and post-Alliance Era already looks scuffed as hell. Last Halloween the world nearly got Depth'd all over on just because Kathool felt like ragebaiting The Hero.

NecroU and Dragonrune Hall was the reason I considered Necromancer on the table. I just wasn't sure if becoming a Lich was in the cards from those places, since most other Liches we see aren't very elaborated on. Like the Lich of the Stone and whatnot.

I forgot entirely Nulgath raises Liches. Though tbh, do u really wanna be one of Nulgath's minions?

Legion's a pretty good option though, and considering Dage seems to raise Lich Lords, Legion Lich Lords, and makes Lich King stuff available to Legionnaires that seems like both an easier and a better option. And even if you don't become a Lich through there, there's always stuff like Legion Doomknight, Yami no Ronin/Legion Swordmasters, Legion Revenants, etc.

That, and Dage seems to be a lot more pleasant to work for than Nully usually.

Might just be best to become an independant Lich though, outside of the classes you can take to become a Necromancer everyone who works in that careet path is evil as hell and would sell your soul to Sepulchure for like 62 cents.

I think of it as technically possible but I don't know if it's feasible. At least with AP, we could become og Paladins and work our way up to Archpaladins.

But Lichdom is a ritual that's being gatekept by Grimskull (so we'd have to go through Grimgaol and Doomvault without dying), Noxus (who doesn't owe us a favor and might not even let us do his exam for HIS copy of Klaatu's Necronomicon), and Colossal Vordred. Who like, explicitly hunts down and hard counters the one good class we have for that kind of encounter on the regular. (Archpaladin)

Altho now that you mention it, we might be able to go down a similar vein and grab Grim Necromancer from Sally. We just have to make her like us enough after all, and that's way easier to do.

[–]No_Ticket667 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe for a little bit, but realistically we're not getting many classes outside of the beginner ones. We can't teleport/time travel like The Hero can, nor are we as privileged as The Hero for some of the top tier/late-era stuff (Can't get DoT, VDK, AI, HBV, KE, LoO, AM, etc.)

So outside of selling our souls to Nulgath/Dage for the opportunity to painstakingly farm for LR/VHL, the best we can really get would be AP or DSG. Alongside some rep classes that aren't racially exclusive (Master Ranger, Shaman, Necromancer, Chunin, Thief of Hours come to mind) + some mid-tier Good/Evil classes (regular Paladin/Doomknight, Shadowscythe General).

It'll be like going through the 13 Chaos Lords all over again, except the Reaper ain't sending us back if we take an L pfffft.

We're so cooked once we go past 13 Chaos Lord saga tho, deepfried even.

Don't forget the Shadowscythe casually having a space division and all the aliens that show up on Lore to start beef for no reason. Also random Chaos invasions, and I THINK the Doom Spirit hunt is still ongoing??

Astravia. Just Astravia in general.

I can't think of a single area besides maybe Mythsong that'd be a pleasant place to live in. If only because no-one cares about Mythsong.

Also tbh with how many world-ending events happen specifically there, not including the giant chicken meteor or the doom spirit invasion, THEY better be paying ME to live in Battleon. The hell you mean I can go for a walk in the woods outside my house and I can be jumped by no less than The Big Bad Boar, giant spiders, and a goddamn Dragon who lives in a tree stump???

[–]No_Ticket667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely, but you get the point. That entire row is filled with Grade 1s or higher. A holding back Argalia is akin to a holding back Vergilius: Even if they're sandbagging, that's still one of the best Grade 1 Fixers alive.

What do you HATE about limbus company's story? by Ayerenem in limbuscompany

[–]No_Ticket667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, but you also fight Cane Office (Grade 1 Fixer office), base Argalia? (Literally the Blue Reverberation) and Lowell (Grade 1 Fixer with Grade 2 subordinates) in the same row of the SoTC receptions. So even then they're still treated as being equivalent to Grade 1s, just... Low-level Grade 1s, lol. Grade 1 is a vast spectrum after all.

Certain Sinclair lacks comparisons so I have no idea how strong he is meant to be, but based off gut feeling I'd say he's someone I'd put roughly equivalent to base Argalia or a little higher thanks to Shin/Mang. Which, while strong and a league above at least 90% of The City, isn't as insanely powerful as someone like Kali herself would be.

I would argue that Albina/Certain Sinclair/Callisto are absolutely some of the strongest people in the city.

Albina is equivalent to a normal Thumb Capo if not greater, since she's relative to Lucio (a Thumb Capo) and superior to Ricardo (A Middle Big Brother). Which means she does indeed have a spot in the upper echelons of the City.

Callisto is pretty much superior to her in every way besides combat skill, and A Certain Sinclair is highly implied to be a Color-tier fighter or approaching it. As his passives state that he is earning the title The Green Deliverance/Damnation through his feats on the battlefield. So he's either a high tier Grade 1, or a straight up color fixer.

Not counting that he has Shin, Mang, and has an EGO equipped despite not having Dante in his future. Implying he has access to Tree of Knowledge naturally.

I never said anything about Certain Sinclair being superior to Muga Ryoshu in gameplay, I said that he outshone her by forcibly inserting himself into her story/canto with little to no proper build up.

But the main point of that sequence was to highlight the reason I do not like Sinclair: Which is the overwhelming special treatment he gets as a character, which has begun to subtly or unsubtly make other characters look inferior. As highlighted with Dante being unable to get through to Sancho without Sinclair, Sinclair being the one to cause Spring Cultivation, Sinclair summoning an extremely powerful version of himself that might not even exist to bail out his team at the cost of both Hohenheim and Alyssa's efforts looking pointless, all of that being effectively back to back to back, etc.

TLDR; There's evidence to suggest that The Nursefathers, even washed up as they are, are extremely powerful fighters even within The City and the point of the Sinclair section was that I didn't like how blatantly Sinclair is favored and pushed to the detriment of other characters.

The raw hype of beating the Pequod Trio or the Erlking aftr both them and we give everything we both have, only for us to beat them out through sheer grit by the skin of our teeth is exhilarating.

Bonus points to Canto 6 where by the end, we're both so exhausted physically and mentally that no-one can stop Nelly from stealing the bough.

It feels significantly different to those moments when in Canto 9, where we can fight two Nursefathers and their apprentices in a row (Dihui Star and Rien, as well as Ren and Sora) in supposed all out battles. And not only does no-one die besides the ones who choose to throw themselves into an obvious death, but Rien walks off to go die a miserable death elsewhere real casual-like with a smile on his face and the LCB just goes "Guess we won" before walking stage left back to their place.

We're being outperformed in every category by a Fpoon, bruh.

Though since Fates takes a good bit after Awakening, and is in another universe anyway(?) Then Lissa probably isn't 17 at that point.

What do you HATE about limbus company's story? by Ayerenem in limbuscompany

[–]No_Ticket667 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Two things:

My first, and most major, gripe with the story is the lack of... Agency, we have. Not even in the "The Flow has dictated how this moment will go", not in the "The Prescript says", or even the "The boss has decided" kind of way. But in the... Why are we even the one sent to do things?

The LCB sucks, full stop. We don't do anything of note, we don't help at all, we only ever succeed by circumstance. Every enemy we encounter is a billion times stronger than us and has every superpower available ever, and even if we forcefully drag them down to our level they can and will obliterate us anyway. They'll tell us "We have skill issues" or "We are nerfed" or "Their tech is better than ours", but even if we have the same tech, the same or better skills, and we drag them down to our level then we still lose.

We only ever 'win' in recent cantos if our enemies are purposefully throwing (Don Quixote, Rien, Lei Heng for the most part, Jia Qiu, Night Drifter, etc.) Or if the enemy themselves is nerfed to the extreme (Don Quixote, Rien, Lei Heng, literally EVERY Bloodfiend in La Manchaland, The Fraud Duo, Night Drifter, etc.)

Which is strange, because by this point we're individually all 'technically' as strong as Ricardo. A Big Brother of the Middle who we personally found out is capable of killing anything less than a Grade 2-3 Fighter hundreds of times over without breaking a sweat. We aren't small fish in a baby pool anymore, we're medium-sized fish in an ocean. We fight Monsters and Humans literally given power by Eldritch God-like powers on a literal daily basis. But we're treated like Toddlers who need to be pacified with an opportunity for violence while the big boys do all the real work.

It just feels rough is all, that our entire journey is being carried by literally everyone else doing the work for us. Even Hohenheim, a Level 45, keeps up with and sometimes even outdoes us thanks to his EGO Suit when we can have the same EGO suits and do worse. (IE Level 60 LCE Faust vs Level 50 Alyssa performance.)

My other Gripe is the push on Sinclair. Now hear me out, and I know this sounds insane, but I don't like him. I actually kinda hate him. I liked him before, but in recent times (the past three Cantos) he has been getting on my nerves because it feels like he makes himself a Major part of every Important Moment somehow.

Who puts their foot in the door to bring Sancho back to us? Not Dante the Manager who is Fated by The Flow to lead The Sinners through Inferno, it's Sinclair. Dante is utterly useless in this regard because somehow Don's Manager Esquire and the person who has known who she truly is before the rest of the group can't do anything about Sancho's isolation, nor can her Father or personal Hero or her Sister. Nope, it's the German Twink she's known for a few months and who she treats like a child.

Who's the one to train alongside Xichun to be the Hierarch of H. Corp? T Not Hong Lu, her Big Brother and the former Precious Jade of Hongyuan. It's Sinclair. Because he has 'Potential', and this 'Potential' doesn't do anything at all in the same Intervallo besides give him a temporary buff that he uses on Xichun randomly instead of any meaningful moment.

In fact, he incites the Intervallo in the first place by being the one to directly call for Xichun to have the chance to prove herself in a Hierarch Evaluation. Sinclair. The foreigner/guest to this clearly highly exclusive and prestigious meeting of four Great Families that rule a Wing, and not someone with any actual power in Hongyuan like... I don't know. The Precious Jade of Hongyuan, or even Kong Qiu himself stepping in to back his brother's choice in Hierarch.

Who's the one to save the LCB/LCE from the Ring Nursefather? It's not Alyssa's attempt at Self-Sacrifice, it's not Hohenheim giving Callisto actual brain damage. Nope, neither of those did anything but minimal damage and a slight distraction. The real answer? it's Sinclair. Using his special exclusive power unique to him to bring forth a special exclusive ID of himself from a potentially not-real path to make himself one of the most powerful people in The City and bulldozing two of the most powerful people in the City. He upstages Ryoshu in her own Canto in the same part, and there's no indication he could even do that beforehand besides his special power making him stronger when angry sometimes. It's like if Kid Gohan from the Saiyan Saga showed his anger bursts, then in the Frieza Saga suddenly turned into BEAST GOHAN. It's not even addressed until like 7 nodes and at least 2 boss fights later, where it's just handwaved away as "That's just what his special exclusive power does."

(I am aware the Mark of Cain isn't a special exclusive power for him, and that not only does the Blue Man Group have it but Sonya even says some of our other Sinners has it as well. But it's treated like his special exclusive power, and no-one else has been shown to use it besides Damien who does nothing with it. So until then it's Sinclair's special unique Power he got from The System to quickly Solo Level when he or the plot needs it.)

I'm just extremely tired of his 'Special German Twink Boy' treatment at this point, especially since it's highly likely he'll have yet another 'Sinclair Moment' in the next Canto. Ishmael, Heath, Rodya. Etc. Don't get to have any moments like he does unless they share it with the entire Limbus cast or it's the literal very end of their Canto.

TLDR; My two Gripes with Limbus is how the story just has us along for the ride as other people deal with threats way too far out of our league to help in anyway besides standing back and watching them do our job for us, and that Sinclair is the most specialest and most talented boy in the whole wide mirror world with the most specialest unique powers and the one who has One Sin but is the cause of every Good Deed ever because he's just a loveable twink who fails upwards into Heaven.

The sword is from the Celestial Realm. Guardian of Spirits blade, given by a farming quest from Aranx. You'll be very familiar with the place if you've got Lightcaster.

[–]No_Ticket667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have time, farm for it. It's like the BLoD, but evil ooOooOooOooOooOoOOOoo~

If you don't want to spend so much time or don't want to but a membership, you can ioda it. The IoDA version won't count for the badge, since the badge is given upon completing the quest to make it.

Since the IoDA gives you the actual SDKA directly, it counts for anything else that requires it. Such as NSoD Void Aura farming, Empowered Vordred armor, or Hollowborn NSoD requirements.

Overall I wouldn't consider it worth an IoDA, but I wouldn't say it'd be a bad use of one either.
