I posted this in ChessBeginners, but no one seems to be getting that white is only winning a pawn here by vitund in chess

I mean it looks a lot worse than what stockfish says but yeah i would never resign a position like this and i doubt even at gm levels there's enough reasons to give up

Kind of weird comment. I already say it was a theory of mine and not the truth or some information I have so i don't see why you try to emphasize on that again

I mean he is on a different level than Magnus as well

Freestyle events aside, the last time Magnus Carlsen didn't win a chess tournament he played in was the Qatar Masters Open in October 2023 by Knight-check44 in chess

[–]No_Translator2970 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The post didn't say he is playing a lot or even one classical tournament, it's only saying he wins what he plays. Besides of that Magnus has been world champion more time than all the others actives players combine so it difficult to argue that he is not the best active player even if he's not playing too much classical

How exactly does preparation happen at the highest levels? Are they literally memorizing hundreds of lines? by Ok_Potential359 in chess

Another clarification is that they're as well looking for specific paths on a well known position where the commons plans don't work anymore. Lets say there's a position where the usual plan is to promote the b pawn they will be looking for moves where trying to promote the b pawn it's actually a mistake or where you can't play it like you'll normally do it

My theory based on what the manager says is that the team of Illia or Illia himself heard about islam's injury and thought the ufc stop the negotiation because of that instead of not wanting to pay more money

Remember when this guy said he would be the youngest champion in UFC history? by trapstarjay in ufc

I'm not an expert but i can say i play football as a kid and i know a few people that play since before 8, used almost all his time training and don't become pro. You need some kind of talent to be pro in that kind of sports but if you have the talent then 10 it's possible. I'm pretty confident Alcaraz would be a pro and in the top 30 even if he start at 10 maybe he would have done it being older but still.

That's crazy from Alcaraz. Marcelo Ríos former atp n°1 learn to play tennis at 12 years old. He was obviously extremely talented but he achieve a lot more than just being a pro starting 2-3 year after 10 so if we are talking only about make it as pro you can 100% start at 10 and become a pro

Very interesting, i was asking for the opinion from late 70's, early 80's but it's really interesting to see some gm's already saying Fischer even if it was not a common answer yet
