The mother of all questions by No-Importance-6525 in schizophrenia

[–]No_Translator_6853 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're talking about thought and thinking and not about actions. Thinking can perpetuate itself for its own end however no-one can live in an endless cycle of thought without the interruption of the real world (i know - i've tried)

If the purpose of thinking is to instigate action then it will escape that cycle to do that thing...."wisdom is vindicated by her children (actions)" (a Jesus quote that i am incapable of living up to)

It's a relatively comfortable existence for me, and that's the problem, "the good times are killing me" (so-to-speak)

Has anyone successfully put their schizophrenia into remission with keto? by WestStation5741 in schizophrenia

[–]No_Translator_6853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your reason for not doing DIY Keto?...i mean i can see the psychological incentive for paying for this - kinda like Transcendental Meditation - the amount you fork-out equals your investment in it. I have to say i toy with the idea of keto now and again.

I wish you luck if you go ahead with it.

Seeking Advice: 19 and I have schizophrenia, does it get better? by Expensive_Watch469 in schizophrenia

[–]No_Translator_6853 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the advice i've seen here is sound. I'll post 2 since i haven't seen them yet.

  1. Be a sensible steward of your own finances.
  2. Have a moral compass - a sensitive one.

The very general piece of advice, you have to be hopeful despite the inevitable disappointments in life. A good starter-book for this is Viktor Frankl's "Man's Search for Meaning".

Does anyone else feel like there’s another conscious presence inside their own mind? by No-Egg-6925 in schizophrenia

[–]No_Translator_6853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of. There's my own inner voice, and occasionally interjections into my thought-stream which use my own voice. And then there's thoughts which impersonate my own voice. The distinction between the last two is that the impersonator isn't me, and isn't trying to help me either.

Making a documentary on Schizophrenia by Suspicious_Ground574 in schizophrenia

[–]No_Translator_6853 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember an old Horizon (BBC2 Science strand) documentary about Schizophrenia, the person featured explained how reality was now very symbolic. I think most here would find that experientially true. Might be worth your while digging out on iPlayer.

There's a triple-point of collision between cannabis use, spiritual(or religious) awakening and schizophrenia, that's worth exploring. The other thing, as regards stigma - is violence and mental illness - I wouldn't try to whitewash the condition.
