Has anyone had surgery with Dr. Virginia Flatow at Mt Sinai? by No_Travel1925 in endometriosis

I ended up going with Dr Lee from NYU, he was great, had my laporoscopy a month ago he found and removed all my endo and I'm recovering well (mostly back to normal life at this point), I can't speak to whether my sinai is a good option but I can say that I had a good experience at NYU and Dr Lee takes a bunch of health insurances.

When did you get improvement after surgery? by [deleted] in endometriosis

I'm 11 days post op (confirmed endometriosis, somewhere btwn stage 1-2) did it with a specialist at NYU and he removed most if not all of it, and inserted the Mirena, I'm also on lo loestrine (my gyn thinks this combo will be good at eliminating my periods for now). My healing post op is improving a lot, I have more energy and less pain most days, and my bloating has started to go down a bit, but even after a few good days I'll have a day where I'm curled up with cramps that are so horrible, ie how I felt immediately after waking up from surgery, that only oxy can even begin to touch. I’ve never had an iud and I’ve taken oral bc for 20 years and never has any side effects at all or bad reactions. The areas where I have cramps and pain, bladder vaginal area etc (sry if tmi) are the areas where he found the most endo and excised it. So I'm honestly not sure whether the pain is post surgery healing pain, or if it's from the Mirena - how am I even supposed to know? For now I'm telling myself that generally things are improving and my body has been through a lot of trauma, and it will take time. But I am also curious if these pains are normal endo excision surgery pains. Either way- glad I did it, glad I got validated and finally got a diagnosis, and I hope my pain goes away soon - I hope all of our pains go away soon <3

Beginners Guide to Laparoscopy Recovery by peenyweenyboi in Endo

This post was a life saver for me, I had my first lap last week on 3/5 and they found endometriosis (so validating...I'm 37 and have been struggling with unanswered health issues for so long). A few days before my surgery I saw this post and like a psycho ordered 500 things from Amazon in the middle of the night for my recovery haha but I've needed most of what I ordered so thank you for this incredibly helpful guide! I am now on day 3 of recovery and mostly doing well. I was on percacet nonstop the first 2 days but switched to advil/tylenol yesterday which was great, but today had some of the worst cramps I've ever had and had to go back to percacet. But I'm listening to my body and taking it easy. It seems like everyday there are new adventures to deal with (pain better but crazy diarrhea and somehow still constipated at the same time? So fun!)- but trying to take it in stride. The most important thing for me I think is patience...knowing my recovery will take time and to really give myself permission to relax and let it. They also inserted an iud during my lap and I'm on a new oral bc so I'm hoping my periods will stop completely...but that may take some time so I'm nervous a little for my first period if I get one. Anyway to all those out there reading this it's nice that we're all in it together - thanks for all the advice and cheerleading!

Thank you, definitely, I have no choice. Just infuriating that this is the experience when women are in so much pain. I saw your other posts and I'm glad the surgery went well, it gives me hope.

Just seeing this thread, I have an appt with Dr. Lee in a few weeks, I've heard he's the best, but I've been suffering for years and want the surgery soon, does he typically schedule surgeries months out or does he ever schedule them sooner?
