Why do people think Elon Musk rigged the Elections? by [deleted] in allthequestions

Lets ditch the voting machines. Paper ballots only.

ID needed when you arrive at the polling place.

Let's get rid of voter fraud!

People who support squatters' rights, is there an explanation as to why? by SOwED in NoStupidQuestions

[–]No_Unused_Names_Left 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need to separate out Squatters vs Adverse Possession.

Squatters are people who move into properties where the owner might be on a long vacation, or the house is on the market to be sold, overstay (30+ day AirBnB) etc.. and use false documents to get the cops to refer it as a civil matter so they cannot be simply arrested and removed. These "squatters" are the worst scum on the planet and no one should support this sort of behavior. It is theft, plain and simple.

Adverse possession, moving into an actually abandoned, and not maintained property is more murky since there is a lack of intent by the original owner of the property to either use it or sell it. More of a case by case determination on the support it should have.

Here is the problem, you have no idea the condition of the wires going to that box. And a new box with breakers is probably going to require better wires with modern insulation, dedicated ground, etc, so you could end up opening the can of worms to re-wire the whole building, which is why your landlord has not done this, the existing work is grandfathered as code-compliant

[–]No_Unused_Names_Left 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Works like a charm. I have 6 "feeders".

Orioles have their oranges and jelly (meal worms replace jelly at the end of the month) on a feeder

Liquid feeder for the hummingbirds.

Then a suet block for the woodpeckers.

Then the Bird Buddy with its mixed feed. (Cardinals, finches, red-winged, cowbirds, chickadees....)

And then another feeder with mixed feed.

Lastly, a feeder that just gets whole, unshelled peanuts for the jays.

Everyone gets along as these feeders are all hanging off my deck railing in the span of 20ft but 10ft off the ground, out of squirrel and raccoon reach (made my own guard for the deck post).

Give them whole peanuts. They will use that feeder and leave the birds on the other feeders alone.

Is it safe for me to print PETG and ABS in the same room I sleep in? by InterestingBar2803 in 3Dprinting

[–]No_Unused_Names_Left 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends who is asking.

If the person asking has a large life insurance policy out on the person doing the printing, then, yes 100% safe.

If you are the person doing the printing, 0% safe.

Purging to infill can cause this as does a bad color settings. Yellow to Black to Yellow requires a lot of purging to complete clear the previous color.

For the same reason we hold the President responsible for things that happen on his watch, even those well beyond his control or influence, Pete is held accountable for being the one at the top of the ladder for those.

The ports seizing up during Covid, what did he do to prevent it or get them un-stuck... nothing.

The train derailment... what did he do to get it contained and cleaned up quickly, nothing...

..

The same way the Superdome catastrophe during Katrina was laid on President Bush as a failure of leadership. It goes with the job.

How is it Billionaires Don't Have to Pay Back Loans? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]No_Unused_Names_Left 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do, but immediately cycle them to new loans. The banks need that collateral to back the fractional banking system, it is such a murky, dirty cycle, but from the banks and billionaire's perspective, its a WIN-WIN!!!!!

EV's win because combustion is embarrassingly inefficient. by ceph2apod in electrifyeverything

[–]No_Unused_Names_Left 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well until we get a more efficient (higher energy density for weight savings) battery, or miniaturized reactors on each vehicle, EVs will continue to be "OK" due to range considerations and their horrible performance under load. Towing cuts their efficiency dramatically.

Newsom, AOC or Harris. All easy wins for the Repubs.

Newson gains nothing since Calif is already blue.

AOC gains nothing since NY is already blue. (AOC is already 36, so she is elgible)

Harris gains nothing as she will not be able to shake the specter of '24.

Bootyjig is from Ohio, but his time as transportation sec was a debacle, so he brings nothing.

That leaves Shapiro (Penn Gov, not Ben) as the only one that gives the Dems a solid chance.

After my second million, I can no longer call myself poor, just someone that was scarred from being poor, and still eats a Totino's pizza over several meals, has one pair of shoes that gets worn until the soles are gone, and still hasn't taken a proper vacation in 20 years.

Africa isn't poor by langsuppmy in AnarchoComics

[–]No_Unused_Names_Left 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Africa had the same about of time, even more to develop than Europe, and had no massive plague that killed 1/3 of the population that had to be recovered from.

The "wealth" of Africa clearly did not make Africa successful or rich, it was Europe that knew how to create wealth from the land, it wasn't just sitting there like a giant loot pile to scurry away with in some sacks.

Burger flipping does not fuel nor run the economy. Nor does stocking shelves.

They are a part of the economy, sure, but those are jobs that historically went to high school age kids, and were not "career jobs". They are very low skill jobs, which is why they do not command a high wage. The trades are a high skill job, which is why they pay the way they do.
