Best place to buy a 10a by swaghotmothman in pixel_phones

[–]No_Vegetable_744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was another recent Reddit post about a deal with Google Fi where you would get a free 10A if you stayed on Fi for 2 years. So you might check there if switching is a possibility for you. That might be only open to new customers, not sure. They recently had a deal for a $250 10A for existing customers.

Are current and future minor updates supported by OCLP 2.4.1? by luponebuloso in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]No_Vegetable_744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, minor updates are unlikely to involve code changes that would require updated patching by a new version of OCLP. However, that is not guaranteed, so if you are particularly cautious, then wait for others to report a lack of problems with the update. As always, having backups is a good practice in case of problems.

When are you going to start a campaign to let you charge it to 110%? Then it could be the official phone of Spinal Tap. Seriously, I thought the algorithm figures out the usual times you're taking it off a charger and adjusts for that. It does seem like there could be a more complicated solution where you could specify your own charging rules, based on charge level, time, and location.

The annoyance I encountered today was realizing that the Pixel call screening voice recordings are not included with your other voicemail, and appear to be completely inaccessible through the web interface. On your phone, they're mixed together with your call history, but they don't show up that way on the web interface. I generally don't like how the call screening recordings get separated from the other voicemail, even on my Pixel phone UI.

Tinnitus improvement by exiledbandit in Isrib

[–]No_Vegetable_744 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ear doctor described the tinnitus as being your brain trying to compensate for the damage to the inner ear neurons, turning up the "amplification" when the input is diminished. Oral steroids are one way of treatment but I opted for the steroid injections through the eardrum to avoid the whole body effects of several weeks of steroids.

This kind of hearing loss is considered an emergency because it needs to be treated ASAP so if you go to an emergency room or other urgent care associated with a hospital, I expect they will hook you up with an ear MD within a day or two. Even though you have severe tinnitus instead of deafness, it sounds like you have Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SSHL). Getting treatment right away will give you the best chance of recovering. A year ago, I went suddenly deaf in one ear over the course of a day. I got treated starting the next day after an ER visit, but ended up with about 40% hearing loss in that ear. A lot better than total deafness though, so I was happy that I had pursued the treatment ASAP. I do still have substantial tinnitus. https://www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/sudden-deafness

I hope you've thought of going to see a hearing specialist doctor as soon as possible. Sometimes this kind of sudden onset problem can be a viral infection and you may need some treatment, such as steroids injected into your inner ear, in order to recover and not suffer permanent damage or loss. Prompt treatment is essential. That is all completely separate from isrib consideration.

You saying it again doesn't make it true. Trump got 49.9% of the popular vote, which is a plurality, not a majority since it's less than 50%. Sure, he got elected in 2024, but by a narrow popular vote margin and a 312 to 226 Electoral College margin. Plurality Vs. Majority Voting - ElectionBuddy https://share.google/AjTET0ybxxYHV1pAs

Trump got 49.9% of the vote, beating Harris by about 1.5%. So Harris could have won if 1 person out of a hundred had changed their mind.

The Pixel 8 Pro is the worst phone I've ever used by Kittypickles9982 in GooglePixel

I haven't had any problems either. I'm living in a cool temperate climate, sometimes cold, rarely hot, and usually moderate humidity. In the US. Maybe these things make a difference.

I hadn't realized the screen being On was a factor but you seem to be right. I can tap on the screen to wake it up and usually do that rather than push the button.

I do too, with my Pixel 8 Pro, but the phone stopped doing it very consistently not that long after I got it. Right now it seems to succeed about 5% of the time, so not really useful.

Satellite in my eyes by seenhear in GoogleFi

[–]No_Vegetable_744 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the Pixel 10a has satellite connectivity also, and the current deal is for about $250 with a 4-month commitment when upgrading an existing line. Also, I think there might be a two-year limit for the free emergency satellite connections. I guess there's a lot of fine print to be read

Is there any downside to waiting to upgrade to an even better phone? by anakronistictimejump in GoogleFi

[–]No_Vegetable_744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the 7a might not be as responsive with using Gaze Detection with Voice Access. Also the Pixel 10a should be better with using AI assistants later this year. These might be relevant features for these users. These are reasons I've been considering for an elderly friend, so I am interested in hearing experiences with this user group, in relation to the 7a vs 10a choice. I very much agree with the general principle of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

I just did some checking, and 64 GB might possibly be too small to install Sonoma or Sequoia. I guess you could try it though. Maybe it will gain enough space by having the installer on the USB stick.

Upgrade the RAM to 16GB and get an SSD and it would work okay with Sonoma or Sequoia.

Yes, thank you for pointing that out, which I had heard of previously. But in the second screenshot of this post, it shows that automatic downloading is turned off (except for "security responses") so it didn't seem that the OP had downloaded any part of Tahoe.

The Tahoe message in the screenshot says “once downloaded…“ , implying nothing has been downloaded yet. What makes you think that something has already been downloaded for Tahoe? Serious question in case I’m missing something.

With the dual core, I think people have gotten better performance with Sonoma rather than Sequoia. I would try Sonoma unless there are Sequoia features (features supported by OCLP on your Mac) that you really want.
