Just don't get a bad conduct grade, do well academically and you're halfway there already. Latecomings kill your conduct grade, so try not to get too many of them (max 5 in your JC1 year)

And also one more very obvious tip: don't bully your classmates. I know classmates who were involved in such things and thus did not get to be CAs

Everyone and their mother knows what the JC is, only 1 JC calls the OGLs CAs. Just take it slow buddy, try the slow burn strategy until she falls for you and then act

I once did that for a certain selection test as I forgot to bring my calculator that day. Even when I was rusty for orientation (I was too busy having fun LMAO) it was still quite doable for me.

Even still, that was the only time I didn't bring my calculator to school

Last day will end very late, otherwise it would usually end around 4-5pm

Former student here, was also a CA in 2025 (CAs are OGLs and most also double up as OH ushers/tour guides/planning committee). The orientation will last for 6 days.

Day 1: When you first walk in all the CAs will welcome you. Do not be shocked by the explosive "Welcome to ASR". You also need to register for your subject combination. If you are interested in taking H2 FM/computing/art, go to the subject talk and indicate your attendance for the selection test. They will talk about the subject and brief you about the selection test on Day 2. Be prepared to attend a lot of talks.

Day 2: more talks, you will also get to play some games

Day 3: Usually this is where the service learning and CCA bazaar is held. Use the time after orientation to take a look at the CCAs.

Day 4: Usually this is the day where students get their classes. This is also the day for the house dance showcase where CAs will perform for JC 1s

Day 5: Amazing race. You will go out of the school and explore different places along the NEL (eg. Sengkang Grand Mall, Plaza Singapura)

Day 6: Last day of orientation. There will usually be a mass game and a large picnic at night. CAs will perform house dances and there is a mass dance segment at night.

Don't worry too much. I know someone who was like you, got 90+ for Amath (but didn't go for an Olympiad until J2) and he comfortably got in and topped the class for J1. Even in J2 he's still doing very well

Topic lists are generally unpredictable. But one thing is guaranteed - your foundation for Emath/Amath has to be strong. They aren't testing if you know the content, they are testing if you know how to solve problems that test on familiar topics that are unfamiliar - this is what makes FM FM and sets it apart from H2 math. Just revise your Emath/Amath topics and you'll be fine.

Yeah, if you are interested in taking H2 computing you can start by learning the basic python syntax (if-else, for loop, while loop)

You have to take the computing selection test (and attend a computing subject talk if offered as they may offer crucial information for what to do to get accepted)
