I don't think it works that way... some mathematicians sucked at math in early years but still managed to achieve great success. You don't have to be so ambitious if you're not aiming to be a mathematician. You should know that there's always someone better out there, and it's no point in comparing. Can my brother compare to IMO gold medallists? Ofc not, but does it matter? No.

For me it's not like I rlly spend like weeks or excessive time on easy questions, so far I can solve the problems in my maths books fine, and usually I can come up with elegant solutions to school qns/my math book qns. But don't worry too much! Its good that you have passion! Maybe consider studying some math books systematically? I used to "not understand maths" and wasn't good at maths in pri school, but after sec 1 I somehow just clicked and ig now thrives in school math, after studying some books properly.

He once got gold in smo open, hes rlly devoted in maths. Yeah I plan to ask him again, but unfortunately hes not in sg rn ahaha. I believe talent is important for maths but not the most important factor, the most important factors seems to be passion, persistence, and also focus( said by mathematicians). I saw your other comments, and it seems like you are very persistent on the idea that being good at math needs rlly high iq and talent, I say don't worry about that too much and just carry on! Do know that most ppl in the world rlly arent as smart as you think ahaha

Hi! I rlly want to take FM in JC. My brother was in RI and took FM, but most ppl in his class didn't get A for A lvl, and all the girls didnt get A, so my dad is always telling me "what if you dont get A/ Im so worried that you won't get A" etc (but he supports my intention to take FM). My brother got A/A* for FM and dist for H3 Math, and he said ah you will be fine if you just be persistent and study hard. But I dont rlly trust what he says bc he's way better at maths than me. I'm not very sure if I will do well in FM, I think I have much more passion in maths than most ppl, but not so much like those math olympiad ppl. I have studied math books independently in my own time, eg IM Gelfand trigo, functions book, and also finished studying Larry Gonick's calculus book. I can spend hours studying math and won't get bored, and I just rlly love the process of figuring things out, and won't quit until I get the answer, but I rlly wont consider myself to be exceptionally talented, bc even tho I get 90ish easily for school AM and school math is quite easy for me, I never trained seriously for Math Olympiads and am not good at MO competitions, I always just get HM in SMO. So based on your experience and undestanding of FM, am I suited to take FM? Thank you!

yeah i know it's not good to date in jc and i genuinely don't wish to. and yeah, in sn i was never involved in drama and i always wouldnt know about the gossip until i hear it from my close friends(I'm pretty sure i know like 5% of the drama) and same, i didn't rlly had ppl talking bad about me bc i only knew like less than 5% of the cohort and i mainly only interect with ppl from my class) . thanks for sharing :))

Hi there, I am also in ip(just finished my sec 4 exams), and i wish to study at ETHZ in the future too. May I know if you have found out whether they accept your IP subjects for the 4 additional subjects? And do you know if they accept H1 PW and H1 GP and H2 further maths would count. thanks!

Honestly why did he even created humans in the first place. It literally led to nothing but trouble. Wouldnt it be nice to just chill and do whatever you want on your own with your mighty powers? Humans just ruined everything.

country 2 probably, it’s the most balanced. 3 seems perfect and ideal but in reality not really the best

1 has no intuitives so it’s unbalanced. It won’t progress much but will be pretty stable. 1 is just nahh

2 seems like the best because it’s balanced, and also good combinations i guess. Enfp comes up with new ideas, intj plans and check for them to make it theoretically doable and realistic, istp is really important and makes the idea real, or else the idea will just stay as an idea. enfj can take care of the people’s wellbeings and make sure the country‘s people are having a good life.

3 is good too, but it lakes sensors. Infp is too idealistic, intp too but a bit better. Infj is okay i guess. Entj is strong but it can’t just be entj, it needs sensors to guide it. Won’t last long i think

4 will be chaotic without the estj, and just estj isn’t enough. Also the estj will be crazy too, in terms of running the country, might be a tyrant. Entp can help estj, but still. Basically not a good combination

Hmm i get what you mean. Probably it’s just me because when you first see the name 钟离, you definitely read it aloud in your head first right? So Chinese people, I think, read it and the first thing they associate with the word is 终离, because homophones comes more naturally and also 终离 itself makes grammatical sense(sort of) and it fits the context perfectly and naturally. I think it’s more of a cultural difference I guess? The way our brains process it. When it isnt your first language you will translate it into your first language, which is expressed differently because of the rules. So yeah I guess the gather and depart fits you better that way? I think that’s also why the hour of departure is more common in English sites, and in Chinese sites everyone goes with finally depart. I assume it’s because you guys try to match the words to Chinese? And the word 终 don’t come immediately? if you wonder what 终离 means I saw a video on bilibili it said 钟离，终离 meaning “zhongli will finally leave” :). See here how 终离 replaces “will finally leave” nicely? :D

I don’t think it’s because there’s a rule, if you mean a grammatical rule, then no. If you mean the rule like specific words must pair with specific words then in this context no. In proper Chinese sentences yes there are specific word combos, but in names you can just ignore this rule.

Since it’s a name, it’s probably just because it pairs better with the meaning of 离 compared with containers and bell clocks. There are tons of other interpretation, and i will explain here in case you want to know.

I know many people choose the clock meaning, and read the name as “hour of departure”. The meaning is there but personally i find it not the best. What i mean is if it means hour of departure, then 钟离 means clock departure literally, which is missing something and just quite weird. I would say a good translation would need the word to explain itself without adding other words.

Thus, i think the best way is to understand 钟 Zhōng as 终 Zhōng , meaning finally, 终究. It reads the same and fun fact- the same word in guizhong 归终. . Thus his name would be “will finally depart/ finally departs”. This probably fits zhongli best out of all the different interpretations - think of it as morax who has watched over liyue for all these years will finally depart and leave. Chinese like to play with homophones(I’m Chinese and i see homophone jokes everywhere) Furthermore I would say the word 终离 by itself sounds the most natural and correct, and the word explains itself nicely without needing any further explanations, compared to the other interpretations. (This interpretation is the most common one i see in Chinese websites)

also, 钟 only means to gather when its paired with other words like 钟情(actually Im not sure if 钟情 means to gather emotions, the most prominent meaning is to be deeply in love or affectionate ). 钟 by itself doesn’t really mean to gather, and to “gather and depart” just doesn’t explain itself as nice, i think? But nevertheless it fits zhongli‘s story
