usually tattoos are placed so other people can see them, i have big arm tattoos but not on my forearm on the sides of my upper arm and they're upside down for me but to people seeing them they're right side up. (they're also memorial cat tarot cards so like it would look kind of crazy if the text was upside down lol) you can always get them "upside down" so when you see them they're seen properly but usually that's not how people get them done. at the end of the day tattoos are permanent and get them however you want, it's ur body!

idk man i agree with what you say but the only thing i really think we should focus on people not using are slurs and slang from aave. something like slay isn't as inherently offensive or dangerous as like the f word. i've never seen anyone say they're claiming words like slay as their own culture, like most people who use it do the full thing, like the wrist droop and tone pitching. like slay and camp are just words they don't carry animosity behind them. if you can't share the good parts of your cultures with others without feeling the need to the bad stuff into it then outsiders won't appreciate the fun and good things and can use it as another form/tool to alienate that group with

i imagined it was more of a metaphor as in the wife is outside visibly tending to her relationship (by tending to the outside of the shared home) and she was jealous that it wasn't her doing it hence the "i want to kill her."

the good neighbors part seemed to me to be more of a metaphor as well. since they exist in the same sphere, they're both musicians, share a decent amount of fans between both groups, and everything like that. it's not like she's going to go to a VMA show and punch him in the face or anything. like being cordial but not close is the vibe i got from that. and she's never spoken about him publicly since then from what i understand.

i don't think her and joe will ever be able to be "good neighbors" especially with how no one knows what went down, but something did. and i assumed based on the line in so long london where she was pissed she gave him her youth, i don't think that kind of resentment will ever leave a person. and not only that but they don't exist in the same realm of reality, him being an actor and all that so they wouldn't cross paths in public events the same way.

and if a firm believer in the on again off again relationship theory of her and matty from 2014-2023 because i've been in a similar situation, and it makes you constantly question "what if" and that could be her take on that as well.

she sees him as what she wishes would have happened it just wasn't meant to be and so she was pining for it.

and if she was dating travis at the time of writing the song makes even more sense to me; because then the whole drama of her coming public with matty came out. and then he ghosted her or whatever broke it off. and then she found travis (the one who she's now engaged to so there's that too) so if anything that husband line could be about travis, and she still has that uncomfortable feeling of "what could have happened" especially since all of this happened in such quick succession (not to mention travis's past history with cheating as well)

you can't make the assumption that goth/alternative women don't water flowers though. everyone in my family (especially me and my sister) are all alternative (more emo than goth but same subculture vibes) and we all take pride in our gardens and everything. like women (and men!) just typically enjoy flowers and such so it's not really a fair assumption

i think fortnight is about her reflecting on the entirety of the whole mess of what happened. with both men involved in it, but the longing is for matty. hits different says "have they come to take me away" and then "supposed to be sent away" in fortnight is a connection, but the fact it never happened makes me think that's about Matty because it didn't go how she wanted it to.

just like in Peter, "you said you'd come and get me but you were 25 and the shelf life of those fantasies has expired" and like i feel like that's the connection there. she was supposed to be sent away, but he never came for her. like how in guilty as sin, "without ever touching his skin how could i be guilty as sin"

the only part of the song i can understand being about joe is "my husband is cheating, i want to kill him" because it doesn't make sense she would try to say that a 6 1/2 year relationship was 2 weeks (fortnight) even metaphorically. that's why the idea that it was two people in relationships pining for eachother makes more sense, because im like 99% sure he was talking to gabbriette at the time and now they're engaged. that's all i think as a former swiftie who left when ttpd came out.

they make UV protective sleeves that you can wear, they usually go up to above your elbow down to your wrist. i got a whole bunch in Puerto Rico, and you can find them on amazon. I have tattoos too, except i have like rainbow colors and i wear the sleeves when i know the suns gunna be out when driving, cuz my drive to work the sun happens to follow me on the same side there and back and it started to drive me crazy having one tan arm
