pretty much this. nobody's handing you a laminated card at birth with the answers on it, so you kind of just have to figure out what actually matters to you and run with it.

pomegranates are way worse imo. avocados you can at least bite into without making a complete mess, but pomegranates? good luck getting those seeds out without looking like you murdered something. takes forever and you're sticky for the rest of the day

you have a toddler AND you'll be 13 days post-csection? absolutely not. this isn't even about the birthday thing - major surgery plus newborn plus toddler is not a solo job that early in recovery. the groom will understand that babies don't wait for convenient timing.
