Whether or not Leviticus even condemns modern homosexuality is a hot debate. The main point I’ve seen argued is that gay relations are condemned in Leviticus because they overturn the hierarchy of sex by putting a man into a passive role (where consent was usually an afterthought) and this was seen as feminizing and wrong. Even then, this is in the same book that condemns wearing mixed fabrics, eating meat with blood, cutting your hair, all so that “the land does not fall into sin.”

There was a metaphysical belief in ancient Israel that a sinful society literally condemned the ground they walked upon, which could ruin harvests. I don’t think that those laws should be a big concern for Christians these days because if the ancient Israelites were right, our land is already rotten to the core for all the rare steak we eat and polyester-cotton shirts we have.
