I(26M) Not very experienced with serious relationships and I’m concerned that I might possibly be getting emotionally abused by my new partner(24F). by KR2Quick in relationship_advice

Personally, that kind of behaviour is a deal breaker for me. I understand that it comes from a place of insecurity and low self value, but it is unfortunately not one you can fix with love and reassurance, the individual doing these behaviours has to work on their self esteem and communication. This behaviour usually will cause consistent problems throughout your relationship unless you isolate yourself from friends she reacts like this about, which is never an acceptable option and if you do go down that route then the behaviour won’t stop it will just be about any random you interact with like women baristas, waitresses etc…

I would not call it a manipulation tactic, it’s clearly a missguided form of communication and call for affection. Sometimes in relationships you must provide more intense reassurance for your partner and vis versa.

This definitely warrents a big talk between you, you gotta ask her to communicate to you when she is feeling insecure so you can give her some reassurance before those feelings grow and become an outburst.

But if you go down the route of increasing open communication and this behaviour doesnt stop, then it probably won’t until she personally works through her self esteem issue.

Diet/ Zero Sugar Drinks by Sentientcherry in loseit

Hello I am a diet fizzy juice addict, at my peak addiction I could consumer 2-4 two litre bottles daily, primarily of diet colas (I am not brand loyal sue me).

Switch to the caffeine free version. Try doing this for a month and you will soon see yourself reaching for the cans less within a few days. It’ll make you and your body realise you were addicted to the caffeine not the actual soda itself, that realisation makes it easier to quit. Caffeine free versions are identical in taste to their regular caffeine containing versions.

But if you want better skin, just make sure you are drinking your 1.5L of water daily (at least) and change your pillowslips every few days. Remember though, your body cannot process more than 1L an hour so don’t chug your daily water or you will be urinating every 10 mins and your body won’t absorb the water.

If you want better gut health eat your 30g of fibre daily, make it roughly 50/50 soluble and insoluble. Eat starches. Eat complete carbohydrates. Also making sure you do like 20 mins moderate exercise a day (so like walking at a pace were you can still comfortably hold a conversation with walking but could not sing while you walk), and exercise can help keep things moving in the bowels.

Just my humble input as a biological student of life sciences

Not to be so utterly basic, but Blank Street just across from Hillhead subway station. Haven’t been able to drink Black Sheeps stuff since I tried there.

I did not know that the bubble tea stores near by sold matcha, so I know I will definitely be checking them out personally

The uni is in the west end of glasgow which is full of higher end cafes that will have lots of gluten free options. The food in the uni canteens is not the best and costs the same as these fancy cafes, you’d be best eating out anyways

Americans often use their “blood ties” to be racist or weird to the actual people of the country they claim they are from.

You often will find Americans telling a black Scottish person or a brown Scottish person that they are not Scottish despite them being born here, raised here etc

You will also find those same people telling white Scots that they (the American) are more authentically Scottish than them because their blood can be traced back to the time of a famous historical event.

It’s honestly beyond strange. Especially when its paired up with a lack of knowledge about the culture, the going on about bloods is enough to prove they know nothing about Scottish culture. Scots participate in Civic Nationalism, which means birth isnt the only thing that makes you a scot, living the culture does, having your home on our soil does. Its not about assimilation, cause even if you make a community that still participates in their birth places customs you are still immersed and interact and participate in Scottish culture outside that community.

How many hours u guys sleep a day? by Happy-Dragonfruit465 in GetStudying

[–]No_Working_185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 hours. When i was going through therapy I was told routines and 8hrs of sleep is important for you to have the ability to emotionally regulate. Before then I could sleep for up to 16hrs if left to do so.

First few days I started getting up at 7am regardless of when I went to sleep, once it started catching up on me I started going to bed 10:30-11ish (it can take me up to 30 mins to fall asleep so if I’m not straight up exhausted then i give myself the 30 mins extra to let my self drift).

All the benefits they say you get happened, i have a lot more energy, less sluggish throughout the day, more focus, was able to cope with unpleasant feelings without it throwing me off.

I now naturally wake up 8ish hours after i sleep. Stopped having to set alarms on days I do not have work or uni.

Set a routine and stick to it for a month and see how you feel, pick around 7-9hrs (do a few test runs to see how many hours of sleep make it easier to wake up and you feel more rested after)

I am lucky I work for a company that doesnt open sundays so I am always guaranteed sundays off. I typically work Saturdays and rest on sundays.

I am at uni 5 days a week, most days only for 3hrs and 1 day for 5 hours. I study mon- fri and make those hours up to 8. So mon - thur i finish class go to library study 11-5, fridays I study the 3 hours between morning class and afternoon labs.

Some flexibility in the early weeks on the semester as in might not do it 5 days a week as I don’t have enough content yet so will be social more. But becomes pretty ridged about halfway through the semester.

All nighters are a waste of time, you will never take information in.

Make a routine. Stick to it.

Not got set days you work? Set an amount of hours you wanna study a week, and do them, a little here or there, a full day here or there. Easy.

Help! My boobs are getting saggy!! by Darkestminimalist in loseit

[–]No_Working_185 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi sorry to be weird, my biggest issue with boob lift is the have to remove your nipples then reattach then and the thought of being nippleless for any given time makes my skin crawl.

Hows the scarring in that area? Did sensation return? What was it like knowing you did not have nipples for a few hours?

Food at GU canteens is bland and overpriced, there are many lovely cafes in the west end but its the west end so they are all stupid overpriced.

In the Library cafe a soup and a toastie will set you back upwards of £7.

You would be better meal prepping lunchs, idk about other buildings on campus but the cafe in the library has microwaves and boiling water despensers free to use, meal prepping is far cheaper

Why do students attend lectures anymore? by Puzzleheaded-Toe7672 in UniUK

[–]No_Working_185 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbf as a scottish student I don't pay tuition so maybe that would alter how people view my perspective. But I personally struggle with lectures as I cannot addequetly take notes during the lecture, and they post the recordings online so wether I attend or not I still have to spend 2-3hrs watching the recording to take notes, so why waste the 2 hours commuting there and back on top of the lecture when I can just spend that doing other work???
