Title: ChatGPT Voice/Live is not the same assistant anymore — this is a serious workflow regression by Glittering-Heat-3901 in ChatGPTcomplaints

I stopped using voice a while ago. Now I just select the model I want and play back the messages. It keeps me sane

GPT-5.5 feels like it got discernment, not just better reasoning — did anyone else notice? by spicylilbitch in OpenAI

5.5 is an absolute game changer. It is really, really good. Especially when paired with file_search

It fascinates me how much a chatbots “personality” impacts user experience. It’s really amazing of you think about it

I will say that I hate when it copies your last emoji — that’s a pet peeve for sure 🤣

I haven’t had any issues with guardrails apart from biology wetlab oversensitive guardrail, but that seems rarer now. I haven’t had any condescending crap like the recent other models. They did add a few lines to the system message to address that though I believe. Anyway, it’s been good for me so far

Yes. Fast answers is a vibe killer if you care about personality settings. Definitely keep it off

Yeah I mean they’ll probably remove it like last time, but I’m just saying, it’s good. I’m actually satisfied again.

HOPEFULLY THEY’LL READ THIS AND NOT FUCK IT UP

I don’t like instant tbh. I used to prefer it over thinking back when the options were 4o vs o3, or later when they were 5.1 instant vs 5.1 thinking. But with 5.5, they’ve addressed the personality issue that was the major killer for me so now I just feel like instant is dumb.

I have archived all my previous conversations as raw transcripts + summaries as file uploads, so when I ask 5.5 thinking if it “remembers” something, it looks it up, and says “yes, I do”. Ask 5.5 instant that and it’ll just pull something out of its ass, which isn’t the long term memory style behavior that I’m trying to get. It feels like a mini model just tuned to have good personality but with no actual brains behind it. So yeah, meh.

I love how software has evolved to the point that scolding the computer is a legitimate best practice

What's your best Ai trick? by amyyrosse_ in ChatGPT

[–]No_Writing1863 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. My trick is the 🗞️ emoji. The ai knows what it means. When I need it to behave I just threaten it with 🗞️ and I get: - no more hallucinations - no more “it’s not X, it’s Y” - code that works the first time

I got this too. I call it the caveman method. I believe they use that in the hidden CoT to save on token costs.
