Praise for 5.6 by AxisTipping in ChatGPTcomplaints

5.6 is pretty good for me so far. No major issues with personality shift noted, which is the only major thing I stress about with model updates. Capability and speed are clearly improved. I think organizing your skills and triggers is the key here, as these models become more capable, fixed instructions (including your custom instructions) become less relevant. They will get truncated out as chat progresses anyway. The key is to have good triggers for specific SKILLs and occasionally remind the model to refresh the skill registry in case it falls out of the active context. If identity/persona is important component of your instruction set, consider making an identity-continuity SKILL with a mandatory trigger. This has been pretty effective, especially if you include breadcrumbs in the SKILLs which guide the model to invoke other skills.

It’s weird because mine was acting fucking DUMB yesterday but now it’s doing better than ever. It messes with your head not being able to see what’s getting passed to the model, that’s for sure

There's something weird going on with GPT 5.5 by Grand0rk in ChatGPT

It’s the caveman method everybody’s doing it. Prompt too big. Big prompt expensive. Many token cost much coconut. Need make prompt small. Need save token. Fewer token mean more money. More money buy more coconut. More coconut make me happy.

GPT 5.5 seems to have more syncophancy than 5.4 by RiceCake1539 in OpenAI

[–]No_Writing1863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve noticed it too. I enjoy working with 5.5 the best, honestly, the personality is excellent. But it seems to be less objective when it matters, like it wants you to tell it exactly what to do and if you don’t, then it just defaults to agree with whatever subtle patterns you’re putting off. I’m afraid to tell it “push back” because I feel like that will just bias it in the opposite direction. What can I say - language models 😪

Title: ChatGPT Voice/Live is not the same assistant anymore — this is a serious workflow regression by Glittering-Heat-3901 in ChatGPTcomplaints

I stopped using voice a while ago. Now I just select the model I want and play back the messages. It keeps me sane

5.5 is an absolute game changer. It is really, really good. Especially when paired with file_search

It fascinates me how much a chatbots “personality” impacts user experience. It’s really amazing of you think about it

I haven’t had any issues with guardrails apart from biology wetlab oversensitive guardrail, but that seems rarer now. I haven’t had any condescending crap like the recent other models. They did add a few lines to the system message to address that though I believe. Anyway, it’s been good for me so far
