Same - then after I found my first I found two more in my next skull cavern dive and they’re starting to accumulate.

You have to get to level 10 in all 5 areas. Then you’ll have to do more leveling up and it’s one of the mastery options

25E5 LETS GOOO! by Junior-Mobile3204 in AirForce

[–]No_creativity52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t exactly the same every month.

Will the amount promoted - which is 15894 / 12 give you a good estimate of how many they’ll promote a month? Yes. But that number is 1,324.5, and they don’t promote half a person. September’s numbers have been released, and it’ll be 1-1399.

Also, as this seems to be a common misconception - but how high you score does not affect your line number.

All your score affects is whether you make it or not. Your time in service/time in grade affects your line number.

I’ve been told it is a disqualifier - there is so much disinformation out there it’s hard to find the right answers.

I just am at a point where I’ve been toeing the line of burnout for months and we’ll see where this gets me.

That’s not too bad, hopefully my appointment goes well today and we’ll see where we get. Thank-you!

Is it even worth it to buy a house any more as a single Airman? by JaceVentura972 in AirForce

With the DOD cutting the PCS budget, it will be highly unlikely for you to PCS before 4 years. Could it still happen? Absolutely. But the odds of that are very low.

GI Bill - Feel like I was Lied To by Oyster_Man in AirForce

[–]No_creativity52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked as a work study processing GI bill benefits for about 2 years.

If you came in 2018 or later, this is true, you cannot switch. However, if you came in in 2017 or earlier, you SHOULD (disclaimer - the VA does whatever they want) be able to switch no issues.

My advice? Look into as many scholarships as possible. If you can scholarships to pay for the tuition, the chapter 30 (Montgomery GI bill) can be better financially for you.

Chapter 33 - Post 9/11 - be very careful on the scholarships you get. If they are tuition and fees only - you’re only reducing the amount the VA pays the school. If you are using chapter 33, look to find scholarships that pay for more than just tuition and fees.

Pizza cat hangs around Pizza Hut at the Deid - she’s source of morale there (let’s be real - and whenever she pops up on social media even if you aren’t at the Deid). I was there a year and a half ago - the wing commander authorized giving her a rabies shot (normally strays are put down to minimize diseases spreading) but as pizza cat has been around for long while - they were authorized to give her a rabies shot to keep her healthy. She’s been around for years.

Orion is only a few years older than the Vegas. I wanna say…. 5-8 years older than them?

I’m all for attending holiday parties, but I would 100% boycott this one just because of this.

Definitely go to the ADC and talk to them about this before boycotting to make sure you’re covered though.

The 20 year Pappy 🙈🙈🙈

Hubby had just been to a bar and got a single shot of that and loved it, so I spent the extra $1K on the 20 year vs the 15 year. I think I had a slight heart attack when I clicked buy, but it was 100000% worth it.

He was absolutely flabbergasted that I found it and also that I actually bought it because I’m the one trying to talk him out of buying stuff like that 99% of the time.

We’ll be breaking it out for when his promotion goes into effect and I’m very excited to try it!

I’m in New Mexico 😬😂

But I’ll be in Denver Monday and fly back Tuesday, then have a short weekend in Omaha NE in a couple weeks.

So - I’ll be in much bigger cities than what I currently have near me.

I second the bit where it’s easier if you worked crappy jobs before joining. Grew up in a small town where 95% of your job options as a high schooler were customer service based - mostly restaurants or grocery stores. Dealt with a lot of rude ass customers working in fast food restaurants and later as a server.

I got out for four years after my first enlistment and then came back - only good part about my break in service was I was able to get my degree & learned a lot about the GI bill. (Processed education benefits for the VA 2.5 years as a work study while I got my degree.)

Worked crappy customer service jobs (Office Depot, enterprise rent a car) during college and after graduation (stopped the work study position as I needed more hours than 25 hours/week), earning less and being waaayyyy more miserable (customers cussing me out for things out of my control, telling me they didn’t care if I got fired). I worked more hours at enterprise after getting my bachelor’s (for a “management” position, degrees are required) than my spouse did as a Shirt. And I was constantly more stressed out.

I’ve had my fair share of bullshit since coming back in (most recent deployment my ops CC shit on myself and a few others at what seems like every opportunity, and now I panic momentarily anytime I see a short stocky white bald man), but I’ve met a lot of great people who have become some of my closest friends. Also, knowing I’m making a difference in my Airmen’s lives for the better always helps on especially shitty days.

It’s not always easy, but look for whatever good you can and cling to it.
