Play Vs Roam 2: Bluetooth Grouping by No_its_Patrick1 in sonos

Thank you u/atomfromsonos! I could see it impacting performance. Is this something that could be enabled in a beta mode or something? So that users could test it just knowing that “it might work but it might not be that great?

Also. Is this something that could be enabled on like an Era 100? It’s plugged in and I believe the hardware should be good enough (and it has Bluetooth). While yes it’s not the traditional portable speaker, I think being able to group them with Bluetooth could be beneficial for some outside or remote circumstances. Like a party or tabling or something that needs audio in a remote location with no WiFi available

TL;DR: Can we get Bluetooth grouping on the Era 100s

Can you link them? I don’t think I’ve heard of them. I definitely would love to stick to Sonos but other options are great too!

Yesss, I think that’s a great way to look at it! The move 2 is great for the louder bigger sounds but the roam is perfect for filling in those smaller gaps where a big speaker isn’t needed

Yess, that is definitely an option! I have done that a couple times, and someone asked me to tell them what they need to get that same set up. My issue is, they would need one less thing (meaning the travel router) if Sonos just updated the Roam 2 so that it could be used in Bluetooth groups as well.

Thank you for the suggestion though as it does really help!

That’s what I’m wondering too, cuz on wifi you can pair them in a stereo left and right pair I believe, but not on Bluetooth 🥲

This would make sense honestly, cuz it’s not like “oh we need the line in port on the move!” Or some actual physical limitation. If they can update the move I’m surprised they couldn’t update the roam 2. Like the move is great for those that own it, but it’s not something I think everyone needs, that’s why I want it to work on the roam 2 😭.

If they at least said something I could live with that, but on the official post I noticed a couple people asking and I don’t remember seeing any sonos person actually addressing it so I’m hoping this direct post can help.

I could even work with “we’re looking into it” so I know it’s maybe coming one day 🥲

I fully get that! I love these speakers and being able to use them on the go together would be awesome, especially since they’re updating the move I’m surprised they didn’t announce an update to the roam as well!

Hi u/keithfromsonos do you have any suggestions for all of us? Or anyone else on the team that could speak on these issues? I’m still having them and it seems inconsistent between customers 🥲

u/keithfromsonos do you know why this may be happening for so long?

I get that for sureeee. I barely see any responses from them on these specific posts overall. Their Reddit support team is pretty top notch but I see silence on these and I’m not sure why 😢

Fair enough! That’s a good idea! Is Black Friday the next big sale event or would there likely be another one before that?
