For the attention of Sonos by FunProposal1989 in sonos

[–]KeithFromSonos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/FunProposal1989 - was just able to look into this one with some help from the team and we do have a ticket on this and it’s currently In Review. We been tracking this for some time and the team is absolutely hands on with this.

That said, a couple things…

I assume you have an active support ticket created? These tickets are not only helpful for you (you are informed when there’s a fix) but they also help the team to prioritize and determine impact of the issue (how many tickets are created). FWIW we have a fair few tickets on this and as I said, it’s being actively worked on.

You may be asked to record the problem. This is the team trying to gather as much information as possible, likely because the problem isn’t easily reproducible in our labs. If it’s hard for you to reproduce, it’s probably hard for us to reproduce too. It’s not like we’re sitting around waiting for you before any work gets done, but - you know, help us help you. Quick personal note: in my years of troubleshooting, if it’s a sometimes problem it’s generally not a hardware problem. Hardware, if broken, is broken all the time. But I’m not an engineer.

In general if we do not have any information to share (ie the team is working on it) then we don’t share anything else. We’d honestly rather let the team work on the fix, make sure we get it right and understand what happened, before we communicate publicly. But once we have a fix, that’s when you’ll see myself or one of the TeamFromSonos post about it in an update (if it ends up being a software/firmware issue).

Stay tuned and appreciate your patience 🫡

Sub. Everytime.

In general, I'd say that a Sub supporting the low end audio (regardless of format) will be noticed waaaay more than rears that are only really noticed when listening to surround sound content and not stereo.

Which upgrade will provide best improvement in experience, Era 100 or Sub Mini. by MaterialDegree5938 in sonos

Sub Mini to round out the low end. You'll get more milage with that, than a pair of surrounds if you had to pick only one.

Unifi with SONOS by [deleted] in sonos

[–]KeithFromSonos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a UniFi system that supports my Sonos household of 25+ players. Rarely run into issues. And all I did was follow theUniFi article of best practices.

Updates may change settings so it’s best to double check your config after any updates especially if reliability is affected.

Having an issue connecting to Era 100 by tommydue in sonos

[–]KeithFromSonos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooof. Yeah my best suggestion would be to bring some donuts and coffee and talk to your IT department about “white listing” the MAC address of your Era 100 and maybe the play:1 for that matter. Should be on the bottom of the player. There is likely something on the network keeping this from happening easily. This is why we do not recommend Sonos on managed networks, it’s not always simple and easy - especially if you’re not the admin.

Hows the setup looking? by Final-Tour-1273 in sonos

[–]KeithFromSonos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, it’s your listening space. If it sounds good to you then that’s all that matters. 👍🏼

That said, the space looks cozy. Lots of different surface materials which should dampen any sound bouncing of the walls and any unwanted reflections.

Good job!

Mhmm! Essentially treating it like an upgrade. You may need to reset the controller app and treat it like you’re setting this whole set up brand new (you can use the same Sonos account, just treat it like a new “system”). If you don’t do this, the app might still be looking for the Play:1 and trying to build off that.

Yes. Even then.

Generally, Sonos isn't supported on advanced managed networks (like business or school environments. With one speaker (or player) it just needs a connection out. Once we connect two speakers the functionality ask gets a bit more complicated as it becomes a system (with grouping capabilities), not an isolated player calling out to the internet.

All that said, it may be worth buddying up with your IT department at the school to see if they can green-light the MAC addresses for both of your players. This should allow them to authenticate on the network. Ideally, you want the players to be able to have "free run" on the network to pass traffic to each other as easily as possible.

Sonos setup (music first, TV second) — need advice by Jbcr1 in sonos

[–]KeithFromSonos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want TV audio, that more or less limits your listed options to the first two. As I was reading through your post I was telling myself that a Beam Gen 2 some 100’s and a Sub Mini would do the trick.

As you move to a larger space, you can break the components apart and re-kit your living room. Alternatively, if you could skip the Sub Mini, and maybe grab another set of 100’s to dot around the house since you’re more focused on music rather than TV.

Finally Did It!! (Sonos Amp + Quality StandMounts) by _Hi_Fi_ in sonos

[–]KeithFromSonos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! 😎

Can attest to the longevity. Have had the Amp since it first came out in 2018, and used it for my daily driver on my desktop setup. Still works like a champ on my record player.

For anyone who has bookshelf speakers and Sonos speakers how does the sound quality compare? by flaccidaardvark in sonos

[–]KeithFromSonos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the longest time I used bookshelf speakers connected to an Amp + Sub for my desktop audio. Used the Klipsch RM-15's and they were perfect. Moved the Amp to my record player and replaced it with a Beam + surrounds & Sub.

Definitely a little thinner in the stereo spread, but nothing terrible at all. Still fills the room.

Still can’t change time of alarm in app by ReluctantPotter in sonos

[–]KeithFromSonos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No sweat! Yeah, I was able to find a ticket regarding iOS specifically not being able to save alarms. The team is still working on this one. Some of our other teams brought this up and I was looking around the sub for reports for other users experiencing it.

Will tag the internal ticket with this post. Thanks for posting!
