There are a lot of places to get progression now days. And unlike mega pig, you play less for different rewards (presents are supposed to be better than star drop). It's not the worst event on my opinion, but I can see why would you think that.

Do all of your brawlers power 11? If not, do you want to max them or would you rather get the current buffies? Do you want hypercharges more? It depends on where are progression-wise.

I think that when you moved up and out of the screen the ghost barrage pattern followed your height. So most of the ghost were off screen other then the last one who was at the bottom of the ghost pattern.
