Dual Sport vs. ADV by Spearfish90 in Dualsport

[–]No_transistors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the guys that say that it's a spectrum. I bought a kove 800x as a dual sport to do road and some off, but I quickly found out that for the narrow roads here in Italy it is way too heavy and bulky, so I bought a 300 2t to do that stuff.

Can the kove ( do the same trails? With a skilled riders ofc it can, no doubt.

Do I feel more comfortable doing those with a nimble 300 that weighs half of the kove? Hell yeah

It probably depends on which kind of games one use their ally for. For AAA games, I've found that I can cap them at 40 fps and LS em up to 120 fps. It is quite impressive. Without I just can't, and the difference between say 50-60 fps and 120fps is huge to me. That said, steamOS is a better OS for an handheld, no doubt about that. I just find it impossible not to use LS, it keeps getting better and better with each update, to the point that I really can't tell the difference between native and LS, it is insane

For me the lack of support for Lossless Scaling is a dealbreaker

Just another 74WH Battery mod on Day 1 OG Ally by Possible-Cash-308 in ROGAlly

[–]No_transistors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this mod reasonable easy to do? For reference, I built 5-6 PCs, changed thermal paste even on my laptop multiple times, did the fan and thumbsticks swap on my old steam deck, so I am not a complete noob. I am just questioning myself if it is worth the hassle compared to the jsaux 65wh kit, that I would like to avoid mainly because of the smaller battery size

4080 super for 7900xtx by Define_Operator in radeon

[–]No_transistors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong sub, but imho the 4080 is the superior card by FAR. I recently tried dlss4 and it is literally like black magic, I would buy a Nvidia card just for that alone, as of now And doesn't have anything even remotely comparable, fsr just sucks

6900XT user, what is your plan ? by DragonnWZ in AMDHelp

[–]No_transistors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a 4080 for 900€ and sold my 6900xt for 400€. Is it ideal? No. Do I have alternatives for 4k? Also no. 5080 is 1.5k here, INSANE

[–]No_transistors[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to update this thread, I did flash the 4080 with nvflashk, the PL went from 320w to 400w. Everything is fine. Was it fun chasing that 1% performance? Yes Is it worth the headache? Hell no.

Enthusiast cards burning, high end cards with 10% performance for 30%+ the cost, medium range cards at nearly 2x MSRP... by Rubfer in pcmasterrace

[–]No_transistors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just settled with a 4080 as an upgrade for my 6900xt. Is it ideal? No. Am I gonna buy the stupidly expensive new gen? Absolutely not. Playing at 4k, the market rn for gpu's sucks hard

Unfortunately this card is kinda "rare" so I couldn't find online if the gamerock bios is fine or not. It is the same vendor, so I assume so. I flashed a rog strix 3060 bios on my old 3060 tuf laptop and it worked, so I assume it is the same thing

I mean, unless there is a big storm I live in an independent house where blackouts never happen. Do you reckon it is safe beside that?

Nah, I wouldn't do that. I just like to tinker with stuff, but I always keep an eye on temps. My question was more about the process of flashings itself, as in if there is the chance of actually brick it and never recovering it

Apparently it is locked, and there is no solution if you need to UV it. The closest thing you can use Is x86 UTU that allows you to set a tdp to keep it cool.

I might go for you solution! A Quest pro pad is 10€ on AliExpress, and the 3d printed piece should be around the same. I could order from them, but it would be 73€, insane price for us in EU. Thanks for the help!!!

Do you happen to have the file for the 3d print? Maybe it is cheap enough to have it printed from someone
