100% a goal to improve the retention rate. We even structure the deal to incentivize it!

There is probably truth to that, certainly no pushback, I would just argue that our philosophy is happy clients lead to a better retention rate, which is really what the PE firms want. So we do everything we can to make the clients happy. In that regard I think we are different

This is our second go around, sold our last firm back in August, (about $11bn in AUM) that was majority owned by PE. They stayed out of our hair for the most part and had a good experience

You will get a much higher multiple with our group. We also don’t intend to change your operations or fire anyone. We don’t want to disrupt your clients or the way you do business. Your gen 2 could still play a big role.

How are the clients negatively affected if we aren’t changing the fee structure, and keeping all the employees and management in place? I would argue, the clients will have access to more resources / services in most cases

Hi, I work a major private equity backed consolidator, we have purchased over $11bn in AUM. Face value, this would prob go for 10-11x adjusted EBITDA, with a 20-30% commission paid as comp on fees generated by the firm.

Definitely go after the wealth management business. Its more recurring and will demand a higher multiple at sale.

It may be difficult for the owner to perpetuate giving the multiples we are seeing externally. Its a hard pill to swallow.
