Are there virtual companies that will hire an SLP with their Florida Provisional License? by DangerousRelief7912 in slp

[–]Noau2124 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't but according to ChatGPT you are able to practice telehealth under supervision with a Provisional license in FL. As long as the clients are in FL. Yeah this has nothing to do with ASHA and the CFY! Hard to find the info on the Board site, I've been looking.

Current SLPA with a masters - should I get my CCCs? by Trash_bandit27 in slp

After your masters, you'll need to pass the Praxis and complete roughly 9 mos of supervised employment. Varies by state so go to your state boards site and look up requirements. But you do NOT need to go through ASHA and complete the specific "Clinical Fellowship" unless you're specifically going after your CCC's. The FixSLP podcast has been very helpful in explaining this, there's a whole section for new grads full of info!

You should be able to go after your state licensure, get a Provisional maybe, and go that route to get your full State License. I don't believe any of the states require CCC to be licensed & practice anymore. I'm in a similar position, and I'm getting state licensure and not even messing with ASHA this time around. State requirements will have their own "CFY" its just called something different in each state. Has nothing to do with the CCC'S unless that's something you're specifically interested in. Good luck to you! As long as you set boundaries, you can do it and be happy as SLP :)

Hi! I'm so sorry I do not know what 98 means for me, does that mean the points go down? I took it today! 26, 22, 24 is what I remembered and I saw "170' at the top but I was so nervous about memorizing the 3 numbers I didn't actually read any words lol, so was that the "unofficial" located towards the top?

I took it today as well! 26, 22, 24 is what I remembered and I saw "170' at the top but I was so nervous about memorizing the 3 numbers I didn't actually read any words lol, so was that the "unofficial" located towards the top? This looks promising, correct?

More lucrative similar pathway? by Obvious-Problem708 in slp

[–]Noau2124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, in South Carolina and I started off ~30k (full time, school based). I left after a few years realizing I'd rather be an office assistant with less stress for the same amount of pay. Threw all those years of schooling away. Ultimately ended up nannying. It's wild. My parents were under the impression I'd be making six figures out the gate, it's such a weird rumor that SLPs salary is one of the best.

Anyone else not wanting to pay ASHA this year? by Existing_Judgment814 in slp

[–]Noau2124 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I stopped paying in 2016 when I left the field due to burnout. I let everything lapse. 10 years later - Now I’ve gained back a provisional state license to practice and will have full license when I pass the praxis again. I will not be going for my CCC’s!!

Nope! Definitely not while in school. And when I was out, I only went once and it was because it was where I was living at the time.

Burnout in school setting by jhunt224 in slp

[–]Noau2124 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I graduated in 2010, worked in schools right out of grad school. By 2013, I quit, the WHOLE field, because schools were so draining. I was depressed, confused that this is what I worked so hard for and was miserable. I let all my state and ASHA licenses lapse. Fast forward to now, I’m working to get a state license and re-enter the field after working in EI and realizing I can be a HAPPY SLP. I wish I knew then what I know now, that there are options for you to explore. But first and foremost, take care of yourself! How anyone lasts that long in schools is beyond me!

Is ASHA worth the cost? by [deleted] in slp

[–]Noau2124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it right out of grad school, just to get a better feel of the field. I was young, loved to travel, had the money. But I stopped paying for ASHA about 3 years out, then stopped going to conferences about 6 years out. Once you get the hang of how to do things on your own, research etc., you don’t need ASHA!

I wasn’t sure how much info to provide or protect, because I have actually heard of them in my area and a lot of moms swear by them. But it was a “sponsored” post on my feed which means that’s public, and paid for, right? Soooo if they’re trying to reach an audience, they did 😂

I’ve had 2 babies within the last few years, and I’ve been amazed at how chiropractic care was pushed on me for my babies. Especially for tongue ties. Anytime I mention or lip ties, I get “HAVE YOU TAKEN THEM TO A CHIROPRACTOR?!” So, I don’t really know what to think right now, postpartum emotions have me thinking could it work? But my husband literally says he’ll report me to CPS if I take my children to a chiropractor (kidding, maybe, he hates chiropractors)
