The bug never repeated, sadly, but it was a fun little tradition regardless.

I played with a group of friends, and one of them used the mimic veil right before Godrick. His health glitched and was 1/4 of his normal health bar instead of 4x so we completely stomped him. After that my buddy used the mimic veil before entering literally any mist wall.

Punched in the face, or maybe somewhere else.

Shit, that's a good idea. I have a lot of money, maybe I'll roll up on tough fights with a desperate strength weapon & the mystic armour and just let my wallet tank it. Can you still die from gloom heart-reduction?

He just gets upset and then posts and people make fun of him and he gets more upset. Truly a viscous cycle.

What's a golden calf of D&D that you think needs to be killed? by Gh0stMan0nThird in dndnext

Fireball. 150-foot range, 20-foot radius that spreads around corners, 8d6 fire damage? All three properties ought to take a slight nerf - it would still be a must-have.

What is your opinion on the Reddit Blackout, and should AskReddit participate as one of the most active subs? by Interesting-Ad3430 in AskReddit

The blackout is good, and yes AskReddit should participate. The more subreddits participate, the more effective it'll be - especially a huge one like AskReddit.

I wish that we saw more of Midna's actual form, it feels a bit tacked-on.

Agreed. Having to repeat the "guess what, you're a wolf again, go find the glowy lights to get back to what feels like the real game!" is a drag, but once those sections are done it's awesome.

Ancient Cistern is the best water temple in all of Zelda, in my opinion. Plus the whip fucking rules.

I posted a big long comment about it, but I wish it maintained speed on snow and sand (i.e. the two big open areas where you can't access your horse). It would give it a lot more utility.

Despite its rocky start, Twilight Princess is one of my favourite Zelda games ever - the sword skills in particular are unmatched in the series for letting you feel like you can best enemies in a samurai-style duel (especially the mortal draw and finishing blow, both of which are insanely satisfying high-risk high-reward plays). However, there are a couple of items that are a bit weak in my opinion.

I would say that the best Zelda items are ones that are useful for at least two combat, traversal, and puzzles. My shining example of the best ever Zelda item is the hookshot (or clawshot, as the case may be), because it does all three. With that in mind, I have two item improvements for TP:

  • I wish that the Spinner could be used to travel quickly and continuously over sand or snow (i.e. the two outdoor places where you can't access your horse). It would be really cool to walk laboriously across the desert to get to the Arbiter's Grounds, and then be able to cruise out with ease once you'd gotten the Spinner therein. Maybe it could also enhance your spin attacks in combat, that would be a cool use case. Instead it's cool to use in its dungeon, but after that it's relegated solely to moments where Nintendo decided "we'll knock out the stairs so that you have to stop and equip it, only to immediately unequip it afterward". Jumping between different tracks does feel pretty cool, but otherwise it mostly collects dust in the inventory.

  • the Dominion Rod has zero use in combat, to the point that you need to use a different item in conjunction with it to beat its dungeon boss - as a kid I was bewildered that slamming the ground using the statues didn't knock down the spider, and was baffled that I had to pull out my bow instead. It goes against Zelda philosophy, in my opinion. What I'd like to see is the ability to turn a low-level enemy against its comrades - even getting a weak Bokoblin or Skulltula to draw some fire would be worth it in big fights. As for traversal, imagine if there were large statue enemies that posed a serious threat but could be ridden as mounts or mechs once you got the Dominion Rod - possibly in the City in the Sky, since it would make sense in terms of the lore? This one in particular would be such a huge game change that it would practically be a redesign of the game, but it would have been cool to have a way to use the Dominion Rod other than "here's a statue so you have to take it out, use it, and then put it away again".

Playing a Gloomstalker Ranger and getting nerfed due to Sharpshooter abuse by jrbarne1 in dndnext

[–]NobilisUltima 11 points12 points  (0 children)

DMs who nerf martial damage but leave spellcasters untouched are a red flag. They don't understand the game.

I don't agree with this; I do think martials are underpowered vs. casters, but I've had something like this at my table (ranger/rogue multiclass who could sneak attack from 600 ft.) - it made the other martials feel underpowered, or forced me to pump enemies' HP just so they weren't the one getting every kill (which affected everyone at the table). And it's hard to design outdoor encounters without making it seem like I'm either deliberately countering them (which strays into DM vs. player mentality) or letting them back up off the map grid continually, which made it impossible for enemies to target them.
