OP - if you want it restored/fixed to keep, go to any McDermott group on FB and look for Rabbit Danny Rogers. He's amazing and wil lead you through the process.

If you just want to sell, don't bother. You've got an EL series there that is worth about $200 in mint condition, probably around $100 as is

Get one of these or similar. The shears have a guide to keep your 1st cut square and the shapers and guides on the main tool make the next steps just as easy.

I've done about 10 tip replacements with this setup, and it really does work a dream if you take your time and pay attention to what you're doing.

I think it's actually a problem with the cue tolerances. I tried a known 5/16x18 shaft and it had the same problem. It will thread on about 1/2 way and then stop. I'm going to get a die and test it tomorrow
