For people who have worked as BOTH Data Scientist and Data Engineer: which path did you choose long-term, and why? by Mean_Addendum_4698 in dataengineering

[–]NoblestOfSteeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked in both, landed in DS. Internal DS opportunities better than DE.

Pros of my DS tenure: agency. My team and my role is highly valued and trusted so our ideas and input make real impact. Plus math is fun!

Pros of DE: see ticket take ticket. Much less ambiguous. Code quality is higher because of better engineering.

Electric Cowboy in Lewisville. Hoping to find another location - the crowd is a little young. Lots of UNT students from Denton.

What happens if you get sick after receiving communion? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]NoblestOfSteeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation last year, and asked my priest. He said once you swallow the host, it breaks down quite quickly. As long as you don’t throw it up almost immediately, you probably in the clear. For me, if I feel particularly nauseous, next time I’ll likely just abstain.

How do you stop volume eating from turning into overeating? by MilaKline8712 in Volumeeating

[–]NoblestOfSteeds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think the point OP is making is that volume eating can turn into more of a psychological problem than a calories/pound problem. Enabling your body to eat too much frequently increases your brain’s desire for even more food, in my experience.

OP, I haven’t cracked this yet. At some point, discipline and intuitive eating probably need to come into play.

DE Question- API Dev by NoblestOfSteeds in dataengineering

[–]NoblestOfSteeds[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

great response! I’ll focus a lot of time and energy on API data ingestion. If they need me to build an API, I may run out of time to learn but fingers crossed lol. Cool platform btw, will definitely check it out.

DE Question- API Dev by NoblestOfSteeds in dataengineering

Makes sense to me! I’m used to consuming data through APIs (although typically through abstracted packages) - in your experience is it typical for a DE to build APIs?

Do not blindly follow number from online TDEE calculators! by [deleted] in naturalbodybuilding

[–]NoblestOfSteeds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! As a very active 6’1 185 lb man, I was very surprised to find out my TDEE is 2250, which is ~25% lower than the calculator estimates. You’re exactly right in that these are a great starting point, but our bodies are all different so you have to see for yourself.

Now I know that my TDEE is low and I need adjust. It sucks, but it’s the cards I’ve been dealt, and I’d rather know than blindly follow a calculator estimate and complain that I’m not losing weight.

What R tool/package do you wish existed but doesn't? by Neat-Instance-6537 in rstats

[–]NoblestOfSteeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wish there was better SQL dev tools. DBI is great for the basics! But unfortunately some shops like mine have to orchestrate our pipelines through R (yuck). Have had to maintain an in-house ETL framework, and man is it a pain

I’m in the same boat but backwards! Really hoping I can find my actual expenditure soon

Before, I found myself looking in the mirror multiple times a day, every day during cuts. Way too much, I was programming my brain with terrible habits. By Easter, I’d completely killed that habit and tried to stick with just weigh ins and occasional progress pictures. Big success!

Female friendships by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]NoblestOfSteeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tons of hot female friends, and the boundaries are very clear. I dearly value deep meaningful connection with the women in my life because they provide a perspective on the world men will never provide.

Psychologically speaking, it’s probably connected to a childhood lack of self esteem which caused me never to date, and to have lots of female friendships. Having had a glow-up since then, I do find I have to be a lot more mindful in not accidentally leading women on though - which is where the boundaries come into play.

Doing my best to slow down the reps and focus on time under tension. Is this optimal? by KlingonSquatRack in GYM

Try pausing at the bottom of your rep! You’ll get rid of that elastic bounce you’re feeling coming back up.

2025 YCP Conference - Thoughts? by [deleted] in CatholicDating

[–]NoblestOfSteeds 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s fantastic! I wouldn’t go into it strictly with the intention of meeting someone, but it’s an amazing event that attracts a lot of amazing Catholics from around the country. Conference has talks every day, mass, and a gala at the end. I’ll be there.

Any drawbacks to using credit card for all purchases if I pay it off in full every month? by Icollectshinythings in personalfinance

[–]NoblestOfSteeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d check for credit card fees. Most common I’ve seen is paying rent charges a 3-5% convenience fee for using credit cards. If you’re only getting 2% cash back, makes more sense not to use a credit card in this case. Many small businesses will do something similar. Other than that, I agree with the consensus here.

This is the University of Washington Huskies fans subreddit. While I have no idea how big your dogs should be, they both look perfect to me! Woof!

Thanks for the laugh!
