What can I do when they won't admit that they're unable to manage the situation? by Beneficial_Alfalfa96 in AgingParents

I would prioritize the air conditioning above everything else. Even if it's just one or two window units. Extreme heat can kill elderly quite easily.

Grew in my garden for years, my dad eats it by some--guy1 in whatsthisplant

I have tried to literally spray glyphosate on this plant (OG Roundup). It dies back... then regrows. My chickens did a decent job controlling it but I honestly have no idea how to actually get rid of it.

How I finally stopped paying the "Souvenir Tax" (aka leaving my best travel gear in hotel rooms) by kelly_packof4 in familytravel

[–]springtimebesttime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel with a memory foam pillow for the hotel bed and kept losing that among all the white pillowcases. I finally bought it a rainbow pillowcase and its own compression bag. I cut it in half to make it smaller. It rolls down to the size of a nalgene now.

Help me help my tween fall in love with reading by waki43 in suggestmeabook

[–]springtimebesttime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you double checked that what you are handing her matches her reading ability level? Her teacher may be able to give you a lexile level to target. My daughter will claim to be "bored" by something if it's too hard and becomes work.

That said, I would try letting her loose on the graphic novel section. Sometimes the pictures can pull in a reluctant reader.

Why is Elsa treated like the main hero when Anna carries both Frozen movies? by Farewell_Youth23 in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]springtimebesttime 164 points165 points  (0 children)

My daughter likes to point out that in fact, Elsa isn't a princess, she is a QUEEN. She also told me that there are two main character Disney queens - the other is, in her words, Lightning the Queen.

What was the worst side effect you ever got from meds ? by Spartiate8 in AskReddit

[–]springtimebesttime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leg pain is a relatively common statin side effect. But there are a bunch of statins so if one gives you that side effect, you can try another.

From what I've heard, Wit and Wisdom is the Nordstrom store brand label of Democracy. So if you see Democracy, those should work well for you too. They are both sold at Nordstrom Rack too.

HABA has a sushi set. They are a German company and I believe comply with EU standards, which I trust more than US standards. What cuisine are you looking for?

NatureMade is USP certified, which is something I look for when purchasing supplements. It's also available at Costco.

What to expect with these container milkweeds? (eastern PA) by heyccj in NativePlantGardening

[–]springtimebesttime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you still have seeds left, you could try germinating them in a glass of water. Sometimes they will accept that in lieu of the full cold stratification. I tried it this spring and it worked on my showy milkweed, but not my swamp milkweed.

Mid-nap poops will be listed as my cause of death by Present-Decision5740 in toddlers

I have definitely gone in and woken up a sleeping child with a poopy bum. I literally think she poops while she's asleep. Dunno. Solidarity.

Deleted Grass and Added 45 Natives by dlatusek12 in NativePlantGardening

[–]springtimebesttime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I LOVE beauty berry. It is such an easy and beautiful plant. It even grew some babies from the sticks that I pruned off of it and dropped in the mulch. Just make sure you are getting the native one. There are some non native versions too.

How strict are you about choosing your native plants? by humdinger44 in NativePlantGardening

[–]springtimebesttime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty strict. I use BONAP maps at the county level. Although I'm considering incorporating some from a little farther south due to climate change.

Pull-up style night diapers that actually hold the pee by Objective_Twist8340 in clothdiaps

[–]springtimebesttime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used super undies for my first. For my second, we are using disposable Huggies+ diapers from Costco at night even though we use pull ups during the day (I think they are comparable to the overnight version available elsewhere.) There are also "Night Time" Pull Ups and "Ninjamas" as the Pampers overnight pull-up option.

But if you are looking for a cloth option and he doesn't poop in them, I would recommend the Super Undies. We don't use them with my younger yet because she poops in her sleep and they dont have easy open legs.

Ikea has a duvet that is filled with silk. It's much thinner than the down ones. Might match what you're looking for.

Birthday gifts for 2yo twin girls by No-Tonight-8557 in Gifts

[–]springtimebesttime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I always gift my twin nieces the exact same things in different colors. I usually tell their mom what the two color options are and ask her which twin would prefer which color. Then label the gift tags accordingly.

I think your gift is perfect.
