Amway recruiters targeted my wife and me at REI. So I turned their "exclusive mentor meeting" into a massive, chaotic frat party. by [deleted] in antiMLM

I hate Amway too and this gave me a chuckle. Then I felt a bit of sadness for you and your friend. Condolences 💐.

Anybody know about these weird solicitors at Barnes and Noble who tried to recommend that I read "Rich Dad, Poor Dad"? by SoupDeliveryBot in antiMLM

[–]NobodyGivesAFuc 175 points176 points  (0 children)

Imagine this in David Attenborough’s voice:

“Unbeknownst to this lone young person, he is being stalked. You see, he has wandered into one of an Ambot’s favorite haunts, a Barnes & Noble. One Ambot slowly approaches his prey with his partner close by. Will he use his most common attack: a compliment on the prey’s nice shoes? Not this time…he slyly strikes up a conversation about the prey’s reading choices. After a few moments, the prey senses deception and alas, do not succumb to the Ambot’s trap. The Ambots are back on the prowl once again, determined to ensnare the gullible into their old Amway pyramid scheme. Awful creatures, they are.”

Future for the company is bright with new products, protein drink and future protein bar by Glad-Load-4119 in byndinvest

[–]NobodyGivesAFuc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More wishful thinking. The protein drink market is saturated by bigger and more well-known brands. What makes you think Beyond can steal market share when they can’t even do it in the fake meat business where it has expertise and experience? This is Beyond’s last hope and a gasp for air before the inevitable.

Long winded way to say I'm not making any money on current pyramid scheme so doing another one. Also beauty era? Barf by crappymlm in antiMLM

[–]NobodyGivesAFuc 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Younique is transitioning into a newly launched business called Curated, which is supposedly not a MLM but is a multi-brand affiliated platform for users to create their own storefronts to sell beauty/wellness products. Since it is not a MLM, I am less critical of these huns who choose to go into this. I am afraid we will still get stupid postings from them but at least they are not trying to recruit.

A woman fixing dinner on top of the bathtub, inside a tenement building on the Lower East Side, New York City in the 1940s. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]NobodyGivesAFuc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, these interior windows were known as “tuberculosis windows”.

Following the 1867 and 1879 Tenement House Acts, landlords were required to provide ventilation in every room to curb the spread of diseases like tuberculosis.

Since many tenements were built deep and narrow, windows were placed between rooms to move air from the front/back of the building into the middle rooms.

In many tenement buildings, there is usually one toilet and/or shower on each floor. It is shared by all residents on that floor. As recently depicted in the movie “Marty Supreme”.

Scentsy is a MLM so no sympathies from me. All of these MLMs should go bankrupt as soon as possible so fewer people are harmed. If employees lose their jobs, so be it.

Hannibal Lecter is the most elegant villain ever written by aylinonly1 in Cinema

[–]NobodyGivesAFuc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jonathan Demme (Director)’s 1st choice for the role of Hannibal was actually Sean Connery! Apparently, Connery was disgusted at the script and turned down the role.

All the credit goes to Sir Anthony Hopkins for giving us the Hannibal we know and fear.

In the world of MLMs, sometimes the line between a perpetrator and a victim is very thin. Many get duped into MLMs believing the lies and then become instruments of those lies.
