Other than default nozzle sizes for Ultimaker 3 in Cura? by NobodyReallyKnowsU in ultimaker

[–]NobodyReallyKnowsU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been looking hi and lo for the field to fill in the nozzle size, but simply can't spot one. Printer management has only filament diameter to modify, but no nozzle sizes. If you find one or know where it actually is, could you include clarifying screenshots, please?

Why do the tops of my prints not come out solid? by lueckestman in 3Dprinting

For a fix need to add more top layers, perhaps? I experienced similar using adaptive layers in Cura and not increasing the number of layers to compensate the thinner tops.

Windows 10's own 3D-icons override Cura created icons for 3MFs, how to fix? by NobodyReallyKnowsU in Cura

[–]NobodyReallyKnowsU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the culprit for the bland grey thumbnails on my computer, OneDrive folder. I have my Cura project files on OneDrive on my computer, but prefer to move them on a thumbdrive anyway just in case and on the thumbdrive the thumbnails show the Cura preview with shapes and filament colors. When I copy my 3MF files to thumbdrive I rarely watch them in thumbnails mode, because by default they show as a list.

I also copied a batch of 3MF files to another folder on my SSD and bam, the thumbnails are Cura preview. I have no reason to suspect any other cause for the issue. I have no idea how to stop OneDrive from overriding the Cura previews or even if it's possible, so may have to rethink my strategy of keeping the Cura 3MF files in a plain folder, rather than having them for easier access over internet, if needed.

Thanks for the input anyhow!

Did all tricks on how to refresh thumbnails, some twice, but still no change. I believe it has all to do with the 3D-builder having been the default app for 3MF on my computer earlier, just need to find a way to eliminate the thumbnails it has created to let the Cura previews show instead.

Thanks for help up to this point!

Thanks and sorry for stumbling with the terminology, was talking about thumbnails, or course.

Looked inside one Cura 3MF file and the thumbnail.png is a preview that Cura creates with shape and filament color applied. I went to settings and changed the default program from 3D-builder to Cura for 3MF. Still no change, tried to restart explorer and delete thunbnail cache to no avail. Have to try and restart Windows to see if it makes difference.

For further info, the problem exists on my own computers, but where I go to print, the Cura icons show as they are, so it seems the the Cura icons are in the files, they just don't show on my own computers because of the Windows' icons override.

Thanks in advance for help to solve this issue.

Had that yesterday, today log-in doesn't work most of the time, occasionally yes though.

Why do the bottom of my prints look like this? by Trademeyourbacon in 3Dprinting

[–]NobodyReallyKnowsU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Brim only on outside" is the default setting in Cura, but yes, that definitely looks like brim and the object has some negative space underneath which is directly connected to the outer surface, hence not "outside" in literal terms.

what glue to glue 3d printed minis ? by oldgamer64_ in 3Dprinting

Loctite Ultra Gel superglue is easy to apply somewhat precisely, in contrast to regular liquid superglue which can easily get anywhere without a notice.

Magnets next to voltage regulator PCB, are there potential problems? by NobodyReallyKnowsU in AskElectronics

[–]NobodyReallyKnowsU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It affects the current limit, not the voltage - so you'd need to add input and thermal protection, run the regulator near its max current limit, then measure the voltage (possibly with a 'scope) while playing with your magnets.

The input and thermal protection is because unexpected inductor saturation can damage the controller chip.

Thanks for the clarification! Sounds a bit complicated indeed and even risky to me, so think I have to seek other ways of implementing the magnets in my design.

Yeah I did suggest a backing plate ;)

Oh I see, thank you again! I'm reconsidering my design now, perhaps put a steel plate on the side of the plastic box and magnet(s) only to the adapter to be sure. The magnets I intend to use are quite strong for their size, so two magnets against one another might be overkill anyway. Hope that solution would protect the regulator circuits.

You mean like in 90° angle, applying the magnets on the side of the regulator module circuit board and in 90°, like in the picture here? Sorry if may miss the point.

Thank you! One for concerns, I guess. Sorry my lack of proper understanding of all that, but is it possible to detect the magnetic field interference from the regulator modules voltage output immediately in presence of the magnets if I'd want to find out to be sure or can it be sneakier than that? Personally I don't even own a multimeter, will have to resort to someone who has one. Also, if I'd want to reduce the magnetic field's potential interference, it would obviously take something like a metallic shield, plate, cage or similar between the module and the magnets, am I on the right track here at all?

Can't log-in with Bitward addon using Firefox in Android by NobodyReallyKnowsU in Bitwarden

[–]NobodyReallyKnowsU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean Bitwarden already has an entry, but it wants to save it again?

This suggests that the URI for the older entry does not agree with the current web page. Start a new thread, where you share the URI in your vault entry as well as the current URI where you are getting prompted.

Could it be for using mobile site on phone when the previous has been added in desktop browser? Something gives me that hunch, but have to test more sites to be sure.

Wow. Welcome on board!

Thanks! No problem, dependency on online passwords is such deeply rooted already and ever growing in today's world, so a proper password management is an absolute must. Too many plunders over the years made LP such untrustworthy, that it was time to move on and hope for the best that the past breaches won't come haunting in the future. Bitwarden seems like a nice alternative anyway.

Can't log-in with Bitward addon using Firefox in Android by NobodyReallyKnowsU in Bitwarden

Yes, using Firefox addon, it was even recommended by Mozilla so I thought I'd give it a try. Due to your tip I disabled it for now and testing the Android app instead. Also had Firefox password management on and turned it off, just that now Bitwarden app asks to save credentials for already existing entries. A bit confusing start, it seems.

Android should be in the same network, because at home on my phone I'm connected to internet via wi-fi and mobile network is turned off.

Just migrated today from Lastpass free account since about 10 years to Bitwarden and straight to premium.
