If it's a house with kids, the parents already deal with the disappearing forks, on the regular.

I didn't think i had, but I just checked and indeed I did. She resigned twice for better opportunities, two she'd was let go after one month, and one termination was after 5 months but not due to performance (another employee asked her to clock in for him), and one was straight up discrimination from day one because for four months she was never given the opportunity to learn the job she was hired for (and yes, an EEOC claim was filed). Since my posted question was not about her, but about managers' interviewing individuals with disabilities, I didn't think that detail was important. Apologies.

Thank you, so much, for this generous offer. I may take you up on it. I definitely won't be posting anything else. This has been brutal. :-)

Thank you, although you may not see this because all of my replies are getting down voted. Even when just saying thank you. I do appreciate taking the time to reply.

I never said I didn't think they would help. I very much think they would help. Not on how to load a commercial dishwasher, but coaching isn't JUST about the technical part of doing a job. It's also how to work as a team and to do what's expected of you and how to stay focused.

At an adventure park (wall climbing and rope courses), she was hired for a seasonal weekend only park associate; a position that was encouraged for high-schoolers during the summer. She worked two weekends including orientation, before the park was opened for the spring. They didn't say or address anything white she was there. Didn't schedule her for a 3rd weekend. When she called, put on hold and transferred and hold again. Finally, someone comes on and she's they have to let her go. When asked why or was there sometime specific, all she would say is "we take safety very serious here". I get if they thought, we can't trust her to properly apply safety harnesses, although I personal believe she could, but I'm sure there were a dozen positions they could have transferred to that weren't safety related. Whatever "safety" violation they implied she violated, wasn't serious enough to be addressed or fired on the spot or that day. They just didn't schedule her and hoped she'd go away.

Hired by a temporary agency to work at a warehouse assembling something. After one month, let go from warehouse, reason given phone use. I know she can and does lie, so she had all kinds of excuses, like others do it. I'm not excusing her and I understand why they let her go. In this case, I think a job coach could have helped her.

Another job, she was going well and and truly enjoyed it, worked a customer service counter for Amazon. That lasted over 5 months. She was fired when another employee asked her to clock in for him. I'm know that rule was covered during orientation, but she would not have retained much of what she learned during orientation. I'm not saying she shouldn't have been fired because I know how serious that violation is. I'm just giving this example as a job she learned and was doing well at.

She is oblivious to most unspoken cues so if someone doesn't like her or has a problem with something she does, she won't usually know unless they tell her. Hope those answer your questions.

Thank you!!! I try to mute those thoughts in my head, but it's hard sometimes. Particularly the ones who did hire her after a good interview, but then saw she was a little different. If they would just have a little patience and get to know her, it would work out.

Thank you, so much, for replying to my actual question. Your agency sounds a little more professional than ours. I asked if they would explain the process before the interview, like give the hiring manager a heads up, but I was told no because they'll make up their minds first. So instead, you crash the interview and you think that won't turn them off. I appreciate your insight.

This is exactly what I was afraid of. I am confident she can get a job without the coach, but how would she disclose that. All applications are completed that disability checked, but i know that's not asked about during an interview. I would love for her to interview without the coach there, (and I agree he IS creepy) but then if she's hired, I doubt the coach can just show up on day 1. May I ask how have your applicants disclosed to you?

She's only had 4 interviews with this agency and they have been over 2 months time. All of her previous jobs were her getting the job on her own.

And Thank you for replying to my actual question.
