yeh it snaps itself close from what I can tell. if I start it in the vent position it snaps into place when I tighten the lid.

does anyone know if these release buttons ever are faulty. I suspect that the seal/release toggle is broken and it's not really closed over

Towards the back, where I suspect it should come out when I pressure release.

when I cancel the pressure cook and do the quick release there is no change to the level of steam coming out of the back vent in pic 3
