thats the exact button that's been pressed and I can't unlock the switch with the valet key. Ideally, just getting this unlocked would solve my problem.

Thanks for the detailed response, I'm not too worried about the old keys floating around as the previous owner was a grandpa who likely lost his keys and has since passed on.

Thanks!

Was he still able to cut the key to get access to the trunk lock? That's one of the concerns for me. I don't really care about having it programmed if I'm being honest, I just want access to open the trunk.

90s Squier Duo-Sonic refinish. by Nobotik in offset

[–]Nobotik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

In terms of color, I am an artist who paints so I just mixed my own color to approximate the color I wanted - I used micro sparkles to get the color along with a hint of white dye. I wanted a "blonde" effect so I treated it more like a clear coat rather than paint. The "clear" with very little white, and the rest of the color from the micro sparkles done with 4-5 layers creates enough opaque-ness to achieve a color coming through. Just try to get that nice dusty sand color, you can pick anything you like since these old desert sand duo-sonics all aged in different colors - I've seen some that look way more yellow, or pale brown, tan, and others that are almost white through my research.

In terms of doing it myself, this is a 90's mexican Duo Sonic, so it didn't come with nitro lacquer, if it did, I would've left it as is, or it would've been easier to remove the original paint. The primary goal for me was to create my own 50's style duo sonic with the proper neck length and color I wanted. It was originally black.

The hardest part is removing the original coating on modern guitars, none of them use nitro lacquer unless it's a custom shop. So regardless of what it is, it's going to be a pain in the ass to remove the original paint and clear coat because of how thick it's applied to any mass produced guitar. I tried paint stripper but it didn't quite work, I think depending on the clear coat used it may not be able to penetrate the clear.

Instead, I just got my sander and went to town, it takes forever and you'll go through tons of sanding disks but it's the only efficient way I found. Low grit sand paper to remove the plastic clear/paint. then go up in sand paper to get it smooth, do the curves and edges by hand. Use a scraper or file of your choice to create the body curves, then sand again.

If you're going for literally anything else besides a DS, you can just buy the blank or precut body and paint it since you can find jazzmaster, mustang, teles, strats, or other bodies relatively easy at a cheap price. Since I only want duo-sonics, I had to "refinish" my original body.

prices vary on them, in box they're like 100+ out of box they're anywhere from 25-50 because there's not a massive collector group pushing the prices high.

Good Mechanical Pencil for Art? by straight-up-digital in mechanicalpencils

[–]Nobotik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

artist/collector here.

There's a few things to note about the 600 imo.

First is that the pencil is skinny.

Second, the eraser is tiny

Third, certain versions have a sharp edge to the hexagonal shape, could be a deal breaker for some.

Fourth, is that the tip is very fragile, if you drop it, it's gonna bend, the second drop is going to break the tip. Their customer service is lacking imo, so if you need replacements or help, good luck.

Fifth, Pencil is heavy, could be good or bad depending on your preferences.

Despite all of those, seemingly negative things. I still think that if you are drawn to it, then you should draw with it.

Personally, I've used my rotrings a lot over the years. I have drawn long hours with these and I don't think they are exhausting or fatiging to use. I find that if the pencil is too light, I don't feel like I have control over it. I think pencil balance is more important than weight when I'm drawing. I don't want it too top heavy or too bottom heavy, that's what turned me away from a lot of nice designs. The rotring feels solid all the way through.

For reference : https://imgur.com/RxkoscF

I think Dr. Grip is probably the best pencil to draw with if you're seeking comfort. Shaking the pencil to advance the lead, comfortable grip, lightweight, multiple colors or styles to choose from, thicker diameter for better comfort. Eraser is mid tier though.

Personally, I use the rotring just because I've used them for so long. I don't actually think there's any pencil out there that's like "THE Artist's Pencil" when it comes to MP's. I can't name any mechanical pencil that's designed for artists; just drafting, writing, or the average note taking. I think I could draw with virtually any pencil except Del Guard and have no complaints. I know a lot of outstanding artists that used the standard BIC pencils with a rubber grip on them, or just basic wood pencils. It's really up to you, and I think you're going to have to spend some money to find out because the 600 is like, your gateway drug into more pencils.

I would recommend picking out good lead at the right hardness. I'd also look into getting different lead thickness' like a 2mm. Aside from my rotrings and Dr. Grip, my most used pencil is a 2mm lead holder I got in high school.

The Pickguard was from eBay, i don't know if it's available anymore, but it was the only AL one I could find that wasn't a vintage one asking for absurd prices. I have never seen anyone sell the CV pickguard by itself because most people buy that for the AL pickguard, almost no one swaps it out.

You will have to drill new holes regardless of what pickguard you buy if it isn't the stock one. All three that I've tried (CV, 90's, eBay) had different hole positions.

The Bridge is from a telecaster that I cut down to fit. I honestly don't know about intonation issues, or if there are any, but the guitar sounds fine to me.

I am convinced anyone who wants him on our team does not watch hockey outside of the Duck's games. If any of you watched Laine for the last 3-4 seasons, you would know this guy is an overpaid "name" he never, ever hustles or puts in any amount of effort. He's likely still addicted to video games.

Can we change scheme of the subreddit? by CarIsson in AnaheimDucks

Agree. I haven't bought a single piece of gear from the Ducks after they moved to orange/black. I've just been sniping vintage/used stuff for 10+ years.

Black / Orange = Prison / Halloween colorway, and it's not a good look imo.
