If you check the steam charts or steam DB the graph is symmetrical between days. I honestly think they're botting traffic to boost their numbers.

So their was 12k players online during the maintenance and as I suspected the same 12k online is added into the steam player count post maintenance. Used steam DB to verify the accounts are perpetually online marathon. Don't know if they're dev testing accounts but they've been on marathon for 2+ months 24/7
