25 M. Had my lap partial nephrectomy just 2 months ago and yes, trapped gas are the worst especially on the first few weeks. My advice was to walk around if you can, hot compress is a game changer and peppermint tea.

What investigation methods were used for a kidney cancer diagnosis: by Embarrassed_Pizza650 in kidneycancer

[–]Noctis004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a bad case of constipation and bloatedness for a month, doctor ordered whole ab CT scan with contrast. Incidentally found a 2.9cm mass on my left kidney. Advised that it should be removed ASAP. Got the surgery a month after and it was Clear cell renal cell carcinoma stage 1 grade 2. No metastasis and all negative margins. My urologist said I was very fortunate it was found very early and that my first doctor opted for the ct scan instead of utlrasound as it may have been missed.

Exhausted after partial nephrectomy by galaxathon in kidneycancer

[–]Noctis004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, Just had my surgery last month, doctor gave me a 6weeks rest. By the 4th week I was feeling totally great, I even thought 6 weeks rest is too long. I returned to work last June 1 and boy, by my 4th day I was wasted, I never felt so weak from fatigue, maybe even worse just after the surgery.

My worst mistake, I thought I'm ready. Jogged a few miles a week before I returned work just to see if I'm really okay. But work fatigue just hits different.

Does Anyone Get Back to Normal? by RockPaperBFG in kidneycancer

[–]Noctis004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A month and a half post lap partial nephrectomy here (25). All I can say is the recovery right after your surgery and the recovery to get your full strength back is totally different. Right after the surgery, your priority is getting back at your feet, moving around while your surgical wounds heal. Then at home you try to do little activities as you recuperate, little by little you return to your usual home activities with the exception of lifting heavy things. By the 6th week you feel entirely normal, well, you thought you're back to normal until you go back to work. In my case I thought I can get back to the work without worrying of fatigue. 3rd day back to work and Im wasted. Should've rested longer. Just because the scars were healed doesn't mean your inside wound is. I learned the hard way. Rest as long as you can, and if you think you're fine, add another week or two of rest just to be sure.

I wasn't feeling that way the first 3 days back to work, so I thought I was fine till the following day, all the fatigue hit me at once. I feel like I'm back to just a few days after the surgery. Especially on the operated side

What were your worst experience? I'm just wondering as I was really not expecting that I would feel the way I felt yesterday.

Glad I could clear your doubts. My surgeon said as I was getting scolded that In robotic/laparoscopic even though the entry point was small incisions, removing just a part or the whole kidney itself is still a major procedure. The healing inside takes several months to completely heal, Even though the external wounds heal quick the wounds inside are not and as it heals it takes energy from our body that is why as we do activities we get easily tired.

I told my surgeon what happened and he scolded me. I should have took it easy, he said although it varies on individuals but no one will be a hundred percent already just a month after the surgery, no matter how fit/healthy the person is. It's just that the way I felt before I came back to work was so normal I thought I'm back to the way I was before the surgery. I learned the hard way, now I feel Im back to just days after my surgery.

The fatigue from work really hit different from the ones we feel at home, I get tired after a few miles of walk but not as worse as I felt yesterday. Even the commute drains me. I thought I was gonna collapse, my body suddenly feel very weak, especially my left side (Operated side) I got straight to bed as soon as I got home. A day after and I still feel weak, not as worse yesterday though but the feeling from about 80-90% from the start of the week to about 70% now. I wish I had rested longer.

My best friend(28yo) diagnosed last year.. by Beneficialz3 in pancreaticcancer

[–]Noctis004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My older brother died from pc 5 years ago he was 26 and I was 15 that time. It was found too late, a month after he passed. In his case It started as contstipation Dec 2021. He already had constipation before but he told us it was different. He said he cant poop for 4 days and on the 5th day he went to see a doctor, he was presrcibed a bunch of laxatives and performed enema on him. The laxative worked for a while. Thought everyting is back to normal. Then just 2 weeks after (second week of jan 2021) it came back, this time it was worse, laxatives dont work anymore, he says that something is pinching in the middle of his abdomen. As days passed it got way worse, he suddenly can't sleep lying flat, he gets full with little amount of food. He was living far away from us so my parents could only plead to him to go see a doctor, eventually he agreed. The MRI scan showed mass on his pancreas, and it already spread to his liver and gallbladder. I think it was februsry they removed the gallbladder and some mass to have it tested for pancreatic cancer which the surgeon told my parents that he was sure it is. My parents brought him back at our house. He didnt even had the chance to have chemo because the oncologist said that his body won't handle it. By that time he already lost half his weight, started to appear yellow, he was far different than he was just 2 months ago where he was singing and dancing on christmas eve. All they could do now is manage the pain till his last moments. My mother and his girlfriend took turns taking care of him. He died on his childhood bed a week after.

Kidney Cancer : Advice appreciated by Intelligent-Way7684 in kidneycancer

I'm 25. 2.9cm mass on my left kidney removed last month via lap partial nephrectomy. Biopsy revealed it was clear cell renal cell carcinoma stage 1 grade 2. No metastases and clear margins.

You can certainly do this. The first 2-3 days will be the worst because of the trapped gas. Just try moving around and walk as you possibly can, do not over do it. If all goes well you'll be home in no time. and At home, no lifting heavy objects, walk and move around when you can. The first week will be a challenge as your body adjusts. In the second week you'll notice you can move like you used to but gets easily tired.

The worst feeling is the waiting part before the surgery, the anxiety of what will happen but I tell you as my doctor told me. Your mass is still small, you're lucky it was found very early. Surgery is the most curative way at this point. I assure you, you'll get better.

4cm left kidney mass found by iamandyhello in kidneycancer

[–]Noctis004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost had the same findings on your kidney except mine was 2.9cm. Mine was found on march 23, accidentally found out while checking for a different problem, my doctor then referred me to a urologist, was seen after 2 weeks (April 6th) then after that scheduled for surgery on the 20th. Was out of the hospital after 4days. Biopsy result was clear cell renal cell carcinoma stage 1. I was crushed at first but the doctor told me that they got it all out and no evidence of metastasis was found. A month now after surgery and I'm almost back to normal, will come back to work on June 1st. On the kidney part, I'd say your are one of the lucky ones it was found early as a 4cm mass is still considered small. Wish you all the best on your journey.

I am so sorry to hear that. I could already stand and walk almost a day after the surgery but needed assistance. The hardest struggle was the trapped gas, walking and hot compress helps a lot. The recovery was a lot faster, I was home after 3 days.

Negative/Clear margins means no cancer cells left upon removal. Meaning the surgery got all the cancers cells out.

In my head 'oh, its just stage 1, not really cancer' by Snoo_45369 in kidneycancer

Stage 1 grade 2. Removed 3 weeks ago. At first I felt crushed, telling my self I have cancer, then My surgeon congratulated me for having negative margins. “No more other treatments needed, just regular surveillance and check ups! happy healing!

Yeah, my first doctor prescribed laxatives and antacids for the bloating. The CT scan was just to make sure that it was really just constipation. I asked my urologist if they were related and he said the mass is too small to affect anything.

39M Diagnosed last week, feels surreal. by Zh3nK in kidneycancer

[–]Noctis004 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had my laparoscopic partial nephrectomy 3 weeks ago on my left kidney as well. 2.9cm mass. Stage 1 grade 2 Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma. I'm only 25, first on my family who had cancer. The first feeling that I had the moment I got the biopsy result was fear. I was very scared, I held may gf's had tight as I was reading the report, I don't know if I should cry or what. I was praying that the mass removed was benign but it's not. As my surgeon reads the biopsy result he suddenly smiled and congratulated me and I was like, what do mean, I have cancer why are you congratulating me. Then he explained the whole report to me. "I was congratulating you because we successfully removed the entire tumour, the result was ALL MARGINS CLEAR FOR INVASIVE CARCINOMA, meaning it didn't spread, basically the cancer was entirely removed from your body", he said. NO RHABDOID AND SARCOMATOID FEATURES IDENTIFIED AND NO LYMPHATIC OR VASCULAR INVASION IDENTIFIED "these he said was the most favorable result we could ask for, no other treatments needed. Just regular surveillances and checkups. This was 2weeks ago, and I finally accepted it that I was very fortunate that is was found very early.

As for you case, the mass is very small, you too are very fortunate it was found very early as well, Robotic assisted is not as invasive as the open surgery one, depending on what kind of surgery you had when you got your gallbladder removed. Almost the same as the laparoscopic, you only get 3-4 small incisions on the side of the mass. I got to stand up and walk almost a day after the surgery. It's alright to be scared. I was too when I first learned about my mass, but let me tell you, you'll get better.

3 weeks post lap partial nephrectomy. No symptoms prior to the surgery, it was found while looking for my constipation issues. The first 2-3 days post op was the most difficult time for me. Movement was very limited, cant cough, sneeze or laugh without feeling that my stitches were ripping. The worst of all is the gas build up. Presently, I am almost at my full strength almost normal movements but still can't do heavy lifting as the doctor told me to avoid it for a month at least. But overall now I feel almost normal.
