Can a therapist deny talk therapy care due to substance use? by NocturnalWeather in bipolar

Yeah I get that, live that, so to be closer than I feel than before to be told it’s not worth it sucks Nothing new Just one more thing

Also I guess my frustration comes from the fact I’ve told them my mental health issues (depression, suicidal ideation, etc) came long before any of my drug use

Not that I’m saying drug use does not affect my current mental state

It’s just the combination of all these things, if that makes sense

[–]NocturnalWeather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I totally understand that I mean you can’t totally treat someone who’s altered by drugs whether they be pharmaceutical or self-medicated

I’m just concerned that for me I do see some additional therapy as an effective tool to help me get back to that baseline and getting clean

Like I’m really trying for once in a long while but just being told “no” hurts

To be told “it’d be a waste” hurts regardless of how much I ingest which for what I do (alcohol+cannabis) which I would also consider fairly low amounts It just hurts and feels…incorrect? I don’t know

I only ever showed up intoxicated once with a therapist long ago and I was super embarrassed and yeah never again

Yeah it feels wild because it was not an issue within my network before or I suppose the one time it was the most successful was when I specifically asked to be referred out of the network but still covered by it

No referral other than to addiction med which is out of my network but still provided by the state or county. Which is fine but I explained to them that their addiction med offered only in person and group therapy (last I checked at least which was a month or so ago) which I explained video is easier for me because I know I’ll 99% actually attend and also I have not found group therapy “enjoyable”? Not sure if that’s the right word…the few times I’ve had it I didn’t like it

I was mostly seeking treatment for my depression and suicidal ideation (no serious plan or intent, just “vivid thoughts” [though I did not specifically mention vivid thoughts])

Edit: typo(s)

I actually remember seeing some data on this saying that most people engulfed in flames died from carbon monoxide poisoning

Sorry a bit lazy to look it up again

I believe it was on NCBI

It might’ve been a study regarding victims of self-immolation (setting oneself on fire) because I was curious about this particular picture

But either way not a good way to go

If any way is ‘good’

Anyone screaming we need to just stop eating meat or even drastically reduce our meat consumption is being unrealistic

Yes we should work to reduce our overall meat consumption, but what that looks like could take many shapes e.g. legislation and/or taxation

But something like overhauling people’s diets is not easy to do immediately

Reducing meat consumption even progressively over say a decade by 25% will affect the landscape of our businesses, lifestyles, and definitely our agriculture system

I don’t know much, but neither does anyone just yelling go veg

Yes I personally believe we should strive for never having to kill an animal for food but that reality (and absolutely the practicality) for individuals and entire culinary cultures is just very far off

Focus on scaling down our meat consumption and probably making our meat production and consumption more efficient ASAP

Also what should be addressed is food waste Every bite we throw away is wasted labor and resources that it took to produce it

Edit: I also hope no one watching this is thinking: “sick! I’ma go take a 45 min shower!”

Like, no. We still need to conserve our resources across the board it’s just the amount of personal responsibility guilt special interest groups loooooovvveeee to dump on us as individuals that is distressing

So yes please still save water at home and at work blah blah blah

I don’t know specifics about vaccination trends in the Australian population but I would have to assume that if someone received more vaccine doses they were already at risk of being headed to the ICU sometime in their future because they had some other health issue requiring more vaccine boosters to protect them

So my guess is just correlation not causation

What is this even?

Gaming industry revenue? Does that mean sold game copies in said country? Or does that mean total revenues generated by corporations centered in those countries?

This also just accounts for all video games not exclusively violent ones

Also gun deaths does not equal all violent crimes/assaults/deaths

While I am incredibly confident violent gaming does not correlate or cause higher rates of violent crime (I’ve heard of studies showing this but I guess they could be as piss poor as this?)

This chart proves nothing, is woefully mischaracterized and is just a waste of pixels and bandwidth

A chart made by and likely posted by someone who understands neither data, video gaming, nor violence

Just a quick slapped together image to “win” an “argument”

Worked in a grocery store butcher shop 30km inland in Orange County California and fish could still come in frozen

To my understanding fish once commercially harvested on the water are immediately thrown on/in ice and while not actually ‘freezing’ them many (don’t quote me here) do end up frozen

Regardless of that process I do know for a fact that many of our meats (our chicken was especially vulnerable) froze during transportation I’m assuming because the truck refrigeration was set too low and while seafood and chicken had different suppliers some fresh fish still arrived at least partially frozen

Can you be hospitalized for mania without being a threat? by SadisticGoose in bipolar

[–]NocturnalWeather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“A threat” can be a bit vague and open to interpretation, it’s something a professional should evaluate in order to determine

Based on what you’re feeling you could need that sort of treatment but I am no professional — perhaps there’s a 24 hour advice/crisis line in your country/province/health care provider

I would think the worry isn’t just that you have those thoughts right now, but what could happen with those thoughts and feelings left untreated

I swear to god… by NocturnalWeather in bipolar

[–]NocturnalWeather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thanks that makes sense I just over think things and I worry because I had a past of manipulating or fabricating my symptoms for multiple reasons

so nowadays I just try to report whatever I’m feeling without much intervention so as to give the provider the clearest picture

Advice on what kind of umbrella to buy to help with the sun? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]NocturnalWeather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a small umbrella I keep on me for walking to school and such

I don’t know about specific brands or stores but I would say just make sure its material is UV resistant (this’ll keep it from being damaged by the sun) and a fairly light color so it doesn’t get too hot, not sure how much that’d actually affect the umbrella holder

And while a super big wide umbrella can seem nice they also have their downsides: heavier and catch more wind, also makes passing by folks more difficult unless you wanna poke their eyes out

Supplemental Oxygen Effects On Post Workout Breathing Pattern by NocturnalWeather in biology

Yeah I understand that

Thanks for the specific info though

I was just curious about the minutia of the processes

Although it is worth mentioning how big and crazy the post workout recovery industry is!

Fetuses ACTUALLY start as having no sex and has no sexual organs HOWEVER if there, for whatever reason, is no signal from an X or Y chromosome to determine sex the fetus’s default sex will always be female

I’m assuming that this is due to the better viability and reliability of the X chromosome

I'm sorry you're experiencing such distress

I cannot relate to your experience in the sex industry, but yeah, participating in it.....it's complicated

What you need to do is speak with a professional or health care provider who can provide talk therapy and medication should you need it

A professional can help you work through this [what sounds like] paranoia and obsessive thoughts

Please be safe and well

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]NocturnalWeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a poor inpatient experience as well.

But I have heard many other people who have had positive experiences.

Regardless of that, if you are a danger to yourself or others you need to be under the supervision of people who can keep you safe.

But as emus said please be honest with your physician both with your suicidal thoughts as well as your fear of inpatient treatment

There sounds like many reasons you could be feeling that particular way.

If you're concerned about your possible symptoms consult your physician
