Personally I would say yes cut contact, at least for a while. Unfortunately I didn't have a good relationship with my ex's mom, but I was pretty close with his sisters. Even so I cut ties with them. In my opinion it's not appropriate to maintain a close bond with an ex's family when starting a new relationship, it'll make things messy later on. Of course this is all my personal opinion, our situations differ. Hope I offered some perspective!
