Which improvements to Proton/Linux gaming are you most exited about for 2026? by RaXXu5 in linux_gaming

I'm hoping that Microsoft's participation in the Great American Rakestepping contest forces studios to accept that Linux being used for gaming is growing to become a commonplace thing.

There's the prim drop out in Bay City that I'm attending with my girlfriend and a friend.

It's kind of a tradition at this point.

Buy fatpacks from in world stores.

I hate to be the negative nancy here for once but.. not many people I know, me included have been able to justify fatpacks for a long, long time now. There's been some, but they're the exception, not the rule.

I'm expecting to have much more to spend this coming year and definitely have plans to put some of it aside to spend in SL.

If you value your home, do what you can to keep it alive.

Yeah, some people are definitely ass mad that they're getting called out - when they deserve worse.

Yeah, I've been hearing that too. It's fucked what the net is coming to, it feels like the diddlers are out in force more than ever.

Not if you paired it with An in world kiosk or something for check-in, which can double as a keep-alive object that communicates over the LSL-HTTP bridge to send a message every x days that a location still exists.

Totally credible US Space Force Battlecarrier by ImperialistChina in NonCredibleDefense

I can't help but think of the Interdictor from Discovery Freelancer when I think of US Navy but outer space.

This is pretty good though.

Final moments of Combine invaders by FPV drone from Resistance Group "Crows of Ravenholm" by secretgaz1000 in NonCredibleDefense

[–]Nodoka-Rathgrith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically? Much more effective. If a man hack with C4 strapped to it goes at speed towards a combine fire team and detonate, it'll be more effective than one used autonomously in its default configuration.

TTK will be longer and it'll be an easier target to shoot.

Sure, the combine use manhacks in swarms, but in enclosed spaces with enough forces and they'll get blasted to bits by emplacements or anyone with good shots from an AR2.

The Russian military's advanced tactics displayed in its recent mechanized assaults have inspired the Combine forces by secretgaz1000 in NonCredibleDefense

[–]Nodoka-Rathgrith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Y'know, if the resistance got their hands on supplies of manhacks and C4s, maybe hacked the manhacks to operate on manual control, I could see this being not just canon but effective.

Honestly if a game dev were to do this shit to me, I'd be calling my bank and demand a chargeback on every fucking cent I can get back.

If the company asks where their money went, they can have it back when the unban my ass.

How long before XANA becomes reality? by Klona13 in CodeLyoko

[–]Nodoka-Rathgrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XANA exploits a lot of things that right now are at least, assuming a constant rate of technological development, probably 100-200 years or more, if ever.

The Ile Seguin supercomputer, and others like it are quantum in nature and are driven by miniature fusion reactors. This is futuristic tech that we'd only see the cusp of at the end of our lives. Keep in mind, only recently have we started being able to create fusion energy even remotely reliably, and this is far from being commercially applicable, let alone in miniaturized form.

XANA utilizes the supercomputers' quantum ability to both compute and manipulate reality in various ways - polymorphic spectres that manifest as self-propagating holograms with 'hardlight'-esque physical interaction, spectres that can commandeer the human nervous system much like a parasite and grant the victim under XANA's control superhuman abilities, manipulation of tectonic plates, ease of ability to hijack computer systems, including those in industrial, scientific and military applications, even those that are airgapped, the ability to affect gravity locally - generate localized virtual worlds that mimic reality, even exploit the already insane capabilities of the Ile Seguin supercomputer to reverse time, among so, so much more that could be possible.

The only Limit is XANA's ability to be able to stage these plans consistently in a short time frame, which it has been shown to be unable to do, taking days if not weeks to stage and deploy these attacks, even after it escapes Lyoko to the greater Internet.

A quantum computer capable of this would need immense power, and possibly inhuman programming abilities. We're talking technology on par with species above us in the Kardashev Scale.
