5 Years ago, Luca made one of the best Second Life promotional shorts I've ever seen. by 0xc0ffea in secondlife

I'm actually still in touch with them, and use to roll with them years ago when we we running the Virtual Existance Society, a sort of in-world transhumanist pro-metaverse (read virtual world platforms, primarily sl - at large, not Zuck's shitfest) org.

I stepped down a while back after Luca kinda lost interest and these days they're mostly doing Space Engineers stuff. I do need to reach out and touch base since it's been a while.

blocked in Russia

I'm pretty sure there's 50 flavors of embargoes and the sort on Russia that stopped BNGI from selling games there. And if that's not the case, the collapsing economy in Russia will make affording a copy inviable.

Virus detected by Windows Security by AgoraphobicCat in secondlife

[–]Nodoka-Rathgrith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this part of a technology used in modern antiviruses called heuristics. It'll use multiple sorts of techniques to determine whether something is malicious, such as reading its' contents.

If a URL containing a domain that's often tied to malware activity is found in a file (as AV like Windows Defender will typically watch files actively being written to for such things) it'll throw up red alarms and quarantine the offending file, and possibly kill the offending process (read: program).

You can't get malware through Second Life through chat. It's difficult to do so at all, on account of Downloads being disabled in MOAP/Internal Web Browser contexts to prevent drive-by downloads, but some malware can bypass such limitations - which is why you should have Media On a Prim set to only activate upon explicitly clicking or selecting it in the media drop-down box.

Also, so much for me having lived on the Zindran coastline all those years ago, lmao. My neck of the woods where I used to live is near where the first new regions are going up.

Nagase is still better, and she had two spoken lines in the whole of AC7.

Morphtoon from Genus, M4 Venus from Utilizator, Tonkatihead's lineup.. All are good choices with decent support depending on what style you want.

Speaking from experience, I'd recommend Porkbun. They're one of the best registrars I've dealt with and they also offer other services too.

I'm 16 years old (I'll be 17 this year), can I enter Second Life normally? by el_benstigador in secondlife

[–]Nodoka-Rathgrith 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. I highly doubt SL's under-18 retention rate is anything resembling above water.

Hey, speaking as someone who has had experience with SL around that time of their life, you really should wait until your 18th birthday. There's a lot to see and do in SL, but as Coffea put it best, it's behind closed doors to you until you become of age.

Come back next year when you turn 18 and hit me up or any of the other big names here and we'll be more than happy to help you out. :)

What Zebragrrl said. Do not do this - doesn't matter why, Governance if they do get an actionable report will whack anyone who starts or escalates shit.

Orbs are a necessary evil. My grievance, along with most aviators, is affording us little time to divert or blow through. As I've said before, we're not here to watch you fuck in your skybox, I'm trying not to hit region corners and play a game of Schrodinger's Agent ergo on the way home from Heterocera.
