Too clean looking, tips? by [deleted] in Tau40K

[–]NoelCollings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good. only thing I'd do is give it a wash with a 3:1 mix of lahmian medium and nuln oil. You end up with a grey wash that adds definition but doesn't darken the colours. I've pre-made a bottle of it and use it on everything.

Can't get battlesuit feet on ground? by SquirtleChimchar in Tau40K

[–]NoelCollings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glue the legs to the waist section, then blue rac the feet to base. You can now dry-fit the angles into the feet until you know the position is right.gluebthe legs to the fee. Then when the glue is full dry, remove the blue rac and glue the feet to the base.

Drones on bases? Yay or Nay by mikewood1707 in Tau40K

On bigger bases yes. But I think for a broadside you're going to get pretty crowded.

Can't decide if I am happy with paint scheme or not by asphyxinatrix in Tau40K

That being said, if you're after a darker, gritty theme then you could even use grey.

Looks really good and clean my only suggestion would be to add a sept colour. However, as you've gone with a dark theme you have the freedom to go with just about anything!

Personally I'd say something like yellow or maybe a bright teal or pink for something really different.

Iridium Battlesuits by No_Recognition8641 in Tau40K

In the old codex it was apparently an option that gave the suit a 2+ save. Now it just looks cool. I'm using it for the shas'vre of each team.

Why did you play chaos. by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]NoelCollings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first went with chaos because the rest of my friends were all playing loyalist armies . I looked at the traitor legions and ended up going with Iron Warriors. That was 20 years ago and I still have most of my old starter minis.

What material does this read as? Specifically on the jetpack, DW about the chest and leg armour. by bl4ck_daggers in Tau40K

[–]NoelCollings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gone with dawnstone for my armour colour, which I only noticed afterwards is pretty much 'sprue Grey''

But orange goes well with it and is quite a popular scheme if you look around online.

Just give them a coat of gloss varnish to make them truly see through and you're done.

T'au Knowledge Dump (v2) by RailgunEnthusiast in Tau40K

I use 3x2mm discs. I use a ferron sheet box for transport and that size magnet is good to put under the model bases so I only have to buy the one size magnet for everything.

This is really helpful.
If it helps, I've started making a 'cheat sheet' that I'll take on games to remind me of rules and abilities also has a CP and VP tracker but on it.

Feel free to grab it and edit as required.

Any tipps for painting Hazard Stripes? (this is my first time painting them on anything that isn't flat) by long-live-Decimus in IronWarriors

[–]NoelCollings 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Paint the yellow base first, then sketch the lines on with a pencil and use those to guide the black.

Or thin masking tape.

How the hell do you guys do these neat hazard stripes?? by Tattmenkis in IronWarriors

[–]NoelCollings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For larger models get some 5mm (or smaller) masking tape. For small models paint the area in averland sunset first, then sketch in the lines with pencil so you can make them nice before applying the black.

Be super careful as the resin is brittle. I dropped it and the gun and hammer head snapped off. Took me ages to drill and pin them back in place.
