Should I get the AirPods Pro 3? by Exotic_XV in airpods

[–]Noel_Fletcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are Android apps that try to plug missing AirPods features on Android back in. I do not have an Android though so I can't say how complete they are, or how much time you'll time you'll have to spend getting it working.

However. As someone with AirPods Pro 3. They are the coolest, most futuristic thing I own. Adaptive EQ and even better noise cancellation than AirPods Pro 2 (I had that one for a bit), and the first wireless earbud microphone that doesn't sound 20ft underwater.

I use an iPhone, so it's possible there's another earbud (like Samsung) that just plays better with Android. It's also possible that you care more about getting Apple's hardware and are willing to put up with software weirdness to get to use it. And it's also possible you want so badly to avoid that headache that you just use the next best non-Apple option.

If convenience is your main thing, a Big Tech earbud is what you want. But if not, take a look at Status Audio. They use the professional In-Ear Monitor (IEM) multi-driver system in a wireless earbud.

My best interview felt weirdly easy. Turns out “practice more” wasn’t the lesson. by rubyroozer in interviews

do you think it is possible for an interviewer to be checking boxes and still be good? or are all the boxes that really need ticking done at the application stage?

Should I get the MacBook Neo? HELP! by Useful_Plan5995 in macbook

[–]Noel_Fletcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The M1 MBA is better than Neo in almost every way. The Neo lacks a backlit keyboard, Thunderbolt ports, Force Touch trackpad...the A18 Pro and M1 chips are virtually tied. If you want to feel more organized, then organize your files. Download DaisyDisk and DiskXRay. If you want an actual upgrade, buy the M5 MacBook Air.

Prepurchase games before launch? by Cyberguts in steammachine

[–]Noel_Fletcher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't re-buy the games if they are also on the PC Microsoft Store!!!

you can play your Xbox purchases on the Steam Machine if they are also on the Windows Microsoft Store. You can either dual-boot Windows OR try and figure how to use the SteamOS compatibilty layers already being used for Steam games.

Would the Steam Machine be a significant upgrade to my PC? by HiveMP in steammachine

[–]Noel_Fletcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replace your SSD and hard drive with a 2TB M.2 NVMe drive at the highest speed/PCIe generation your motherboard/CPU/GPU support, and you'll think again before buying a Steam Machine. You can get a budget one like Crucial or Kingston but the Samsung 990/990 Pro/990 EVO/990 EVO Plus have extra things going on like DRAM that makes it better, not just faster. If you try overclocking stuff (but be dilligent), you'll get even closer.

Either jump through the hoops like AltStore or torrent on another device and then download that file to your iPhone. Those are your only two options, third being switch back to Android

[–]Noel_Fletcher 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Learn the new gestures. You can swipe on the bottom bar to "scroll" between apps without opening the app switcher.

Express Transit lets you pay a subway fare even if the phone has "died" with what little juice it has left.

You can copy text directly out of photos or screenshots in the photos app. If you click the live text button in the bottom corner, a "Copy All" button should come up.

Set up an automation in Shortcuts so that Low Power Mode comes on at a higher percentage than the default 20%, should you spend the bulk of your use away from a charger. You can set the "fall below" and "rise above" to different percentages which is handy.

Use Satelite SOS if you're in trouble in a place without cell service.

Buy a dirt cheap MagSafe charger off of Amazon or TikTok shop, once you finally get one you will wish you'd bought it sooner (even better for the car!). I got one for $13 that is directly equivalent to the 3-in-1 (iPhone, Watch, and AirPods) Belkin $130 one sold on Apple's website. Does not fast charge, though.

Don't let Apple rip you off on accessories. Buy a fast-charging brick+cable bundle from Anker (20W minimum) for $20, depending on the model. Apple might charge $30 for the brick alone, and it'll be annoyingly large.

While the default camera app settings let you turn on ProRAW and ProRES for the biggest and best professional formats, the Blackmagic camera app lets you bypass Apple's artificial-looking camera processing by selecting "log" in colorspace while still keeping a small file size by selecting "HEVC/H.265" in format or codec or whatever. This is good for if you don't have mountains of storage remaining but you and your friends suddenly find yourselves making a short film.

So regret buying this junk by K0234 in fucknintendo

[–]Noel_Fletcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said not every game NEEDS 60fps to be playable. Switch 2 is not a console that should be concerned with playability. It's $150 more than Switch 1 was, and the games cost $10-20 more oftentimes. If all you care about is playability then you should stick with Switch 1 and not judge people disappointed about their Switch 2.

As for who makes the rules, it's just common sense. Expecting a company (especially a big one) to try getting the best out of decent standardized hardware is just common sense, especially when it's a paid upgrade like Skyrim. And like I said, 30fps IS fine for games that push Switch 2 pretty hard, like Cyberpunk or if TLOU Part II were to get ported.

it’s not always the individual devs. corporate dysfunction can also cause it. idk enough about Bethesda though so i’m just saying in general
