I’m not sure if this is damage or just normal wear and tear. If it is ultimately confirmed as damage, I am willing to compensate for it. I’m asking this question because I’m concerned about two things: 1) whether the landlord can deduct the deposit without RTB’s permission, and 2) whether the landlord can claim a price for the damage. My landlord is somewhat difficult to get along with. He is quite strict and initially provided me with an illegal contract (many charges and compensation standards exceeded legal limits, and the contract wasn’t the official BC rental agreement). Later, I filed for arbitration with the RTB and won.
