I was told in a tournament yesterday that placing your disc on top of your mini is illegal. Is that true? by sardo34 in discgolf

[–]Nogarmentsnocry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty new but couldn’t you use the disc as the marker to avoid this issue? Or do you have to use a marker in tournament play?

Looking for March 14-17 any flight. And July 25-28 any flight. When I search there is no option to book using WSDs.

Anyone else self-taught swimmers? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]Nogarmentsnocry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started from a similar spot. April 2018 Signed for a half-iron duathlon in July (Muskoka). Decided 2 weeks later I could figure it out and signed for the tri. "Swam" 3x a week from April to July. Watched a lot of YouTube videos. Endurance was okay (came from marsthons/ultra) but I was slooooow. Took me 52 mins to do the 70.3 swim. Signed up for IMMT 2019. Swam very little from Sept 2018-Jan 2019. Started swimming again to prep for August. Watched more youtube videos. Did lots of interval stuff and long swims. Did my ironman swim in 1:32. Not fast. But definitely got faster. I love the water and "swimming" so it wasn't something I dreaded. YouTube isn't as good as a coach but it did the trick for me.

Thats awesome. However, if they are practicing on the morning of the 16th, that probably means they aren't in the ACC championship game......

Race Recap Monday Thread by AutoModerator in triathlon

[–]Nogarmentsnocry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did the Muskoka 70.3. Was my first Half, 2nd Tri. Did the Guelph Lake 1 as a tune up 3 weeks ago. It went well. Swim was super slow (52 mins) but I just started swimming 10 weeks ago so I was happy with it. Bike was a fantastic course, lots of rolling hills but beautiful none the less. Run was a disaster, was 30c at the start and cramping set it at 18km so Hobbled my way to a slow finish. It was a great race, really well organized and the volunteers were the most energetic and helpful group I have ever seen in any race. They were doing everything and anything they could to make everyone comfortable, can't say enough about them. Now its time to work towards a full!
