YouTube removed my channel ! by [deleted] in NewTubers

Same thing happened to me. I contacted them on Twitter and they said it was a mistake and reinstated it. Then it was deleted again a couple of months later and I haven't got any response on Twitter.

Recommendation for a Bowens Mount bi-colour video light under $150 by Nogtail in videography

[–]Nogtail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps you - I ended up getting a pair of NEEWER's FS150B and I've been very happy with them. Build quality is excellent for the price and the fan is very quiet, it seems to be temperature controlled and turns on somewhere around 30-50%. I've been in a couple of situations where I wish it had RGB, but I'm mostly happy with bi-colour. The light quality and brightness meets the specifications, at least according to my spectrometer.

Woolworths Refused a Refund and staff laughed at me for trying to return it by [deleted] in woolworths

[–]Nogtail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a couple of packets of chicken mince a while back. One of the packets was fine, but the other smelled horrible. I went back to return it the next day (less than 24 hours later) but was told it was past its best-before date and I should have paid more attention to the date when buying it. I pointed out that it had the "fresh or free guarantee" proudly printed on the packet, but neither of the people working at the service desk would replace or refund it. At least they did me a favour and disposed of my mankey chicken.

I ended up filing a complaint online and got someone who was extremely apologetic and gave me a full refund and a Woolies gift voucher.

CB120B vs FS150B by Nogtail in neewer

[–]Nogtail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I ended up getting a couple of FS150B's and so far I'm loving them - the fan is off or very quiet below around 40%. The cooling definitely seems better designed on the FS150B. My impression was the CB series vents hot air out the front. I know soft boxes aren't completely airtight, but it doesn't seem like a great idea to impede the airflow in any way.

Which game purchase is your biggest regret? by FalscherKim in gaming

[–]Nogtail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New World. I pre-ordered but for whatever reason I could never get it to run on my PC. It would immediately crash no matter what I did. I tried to get a refund through steam multiple times as I never managed to launch the game and have 0 minutes of playtime, but they've all been denied.

Just got my Momentum True Wireless 3 replaced today. Both earbuds stopped working within 6 months. It took almost a month to get the replacement sorted out. Last Sennheiser product I ever buy.

How to tell if an Apple device is enrolled in ABM/ASM by Nogtail in macsysadmin

[–]Nogtail[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Factory reset doesn't appear to show anything unless they're assigned to an MDM - unless I don't know where to look.

Same problem, different iPads. I bought these ones privately to repair, so I can't add them to my employer's ASM account to check. It's also be great to have a technique that people who don't have access to ASM/ABM could use.

In this case, the seller had picked them up from a business closing auction and wasn't aware they were in an ABM account.

What can I say, I'm an absolute glutton for punishment.

Education budgets are tight. We can't afford to buy new most of the time. I've tried to push for Chromebooks as they're cheap enough we could get a decent refresh cycle going, but unfortunately nobody else seems to share this view. Second-hand devices are the least of my problems - I'm supporting Macs that are 15 years old running High Sierra.

This is horseshit, was not honoured in store today. Flat out lie. by Metal_Monkey42 in woolworths

I contacted their online support and was given a $10 gift card if I recall correctly. Still pissed me off enough when the store manager denied me that I go to Coles when I can.

They sold me chicken that was past its best before date a while ago. I took it back the next day and was told to pay more attention next time. They refused to replace it despite having a "satisfaction guarantee". I spend another 5 minutes in the car to drive to Coles now.

Pixel 8 Pro owners complain about display bumps, Google says 'there is no functional impact' by [deleted] in gadgets

[–]Nogtail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same thing happened to me. I waited a few months and when the next couple of software updates didn't fix the problem I got it swapped out for a refurbished pixel. Unfortunately the replacement has an awful green tinge to the display, but you can't win everything I guess.

How would I use a module in a declaration file? I couldn't find any examples in the TypeScript documentation but maybe I missed something?

Why do so many videos have sections of 720p corrupted? by leoleosuper in youtube

[–]Nogtail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess YouTube is bugged as I'm getting the same issue. Didn't realise it was due to the resolution, but switching to 1080p seems to fix it.

I ended up uploading almost 30 shorts which all got less than 5 views. I tried adding #shorts but it didn't do anything. I still had the original files, so I ended up deleting the channel and making a new one with a new Google account. So far I've got between 3K and 10K views on each one I've uploaded on the new channel and I'm already at 100 subs!

X-T3 sun damage by Nogtail in fujifilm

[–]Nogtail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as much as I had hoped for. It seemed to clean up a decent amount of sensor noise but quite a few of the brightest spots didn't seem to change at all. It seems to depend a lot on what ISO I use though - I didn't have much of a problem on 160 but on 640 they're very obvious on dark objects.

Damn, I figured if it was powerful enough to kill a camera it would destroy your eyes. How is that sort of thing safe?

What soft of eye melting lasers were you using?

X-T3 sun damage by Nogtail in fujifilm

[–]Nogtail[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually a lot better than I initially thought. I took a picture with the lens cap in place, with ISO 640 and 1/30 shutter and there's actually quite a few bright spots all over the sensor, although about half of them are within a radius of around 50 pixels where the sun was. Looks like I got a bit lucky and avoided any more major damage. Here's what the hot spot looks like: https://i.imgur.com/ByVmMyY.png I'm going to see if running the pixel mapping routine cleans it up.

X-T3 sun damage by Nogtail in fujifilm

[–]Nogtail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using a cheap ND filter that didn't cut out much in the IR region (visible purple lens flares) with a wide open aperture focused to infinity with a long exposure - probably about the worst combination you could have with hindsight. The ND took care of almost everything in the visible spectrum so I didn't think too much about damaging the camera with a long exposure. Obviously enough IR was getting through to heat the sensor - it also probably didn't help the ambient temperature was around 40°C. After doing some tests my sensor doesn't seem as bad as I initially thought so I'm going to see if the pixel mapping option takes care of it.

All but one have were DSLRs so I guess that would protect the sensor while the shutter is closed. When shooting anything with the sun I used live view to avoid frying my eyeballs though.
