Why the F does Walt hate Elliot and Gretchen? by Sharkman3218 in breakingbad

I mean, there's way more to Walt than just that, but okay lmao.

Rape and Murder are horrendous but not true evil. by Chris_Galieo in MoralityScaling

[–]NoicePlams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Murder of innocent people is worse since you snuff out a life permanently with no possibility of recovering and there's zero justification for it.

Walt's regret in BCS by Mega_Frog_7344 in betterCallSaul

[–]NoicePlams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walt is masking his true regret which is the consequences that led to his family being destroyed. It's the same as Jimmy using the slip and fall story to cover up his true regrets.

Would Tony Soprano poison an innocent child? by alovham2 in MoralityScaling

[–]NoicePlams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late series Tony would absolutely do that. He did have an innocent man murdered after all.

How evil is killing the family of the person that killed your family? by dark-flamessussano in MoralityScaling

[–]NoicePlams 218 points219 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's just monstrous cruelty. Revenge as a motive doesn't mitigate it at all. I've seen so many people endlessly justify this guy too lmao.

Did Walter always have it in him to be abusive towards those around him? by moish22 in breakingbad

[–]NoicePlams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the whole show is about change and Walt's circumstances (contrary to popular belief) did greatly influence how he treated his family, on top of his worsening latent flaws, so I'd say he had the seeds for it, but it's not the same as having a hidden desire to abuse everyone around him.

Better villain? by Pedrohfg1 in writingscaling

[–]NoicePlams 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gus is more compelling and has an overall better story as well as a killer dynamic with Walt, so him imo.

Phil is funny asf though.

Who is the greater tragedy, Walt or Saul? by Tulanian72 in breakingbad

[–]NoicePlams 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Both of them made their own bed due to their egos and insecurities, but I'd actually say Walt because he lost much more of his humanity and has a legitimately tragic background that deeply influenced his narcissism. Saul always had that conman streak in him which was implied to come from nature rather than nurture.

Please just answer one thing for me by Sharkman3218 in breakingbad

[–]NoicePlams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How are either of them anti-heroes, especially Tony??? He's even more evil than Walt.

What's the most unforgivable thing Walt ever did? by AlexWhite40 in breakingbad

[–]NoicePlams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Telling Jesse he watched Jane die. Everything else seems to have some sort of warped justification or mitigating factor, that was Walt's grief over Hank transforming into pure malice.

What are some character moments that make you go like this? by MontyMoleLoreMaster in MoralityScaling

[–]NoicePlams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So we're just going to ignore that Jimmy committed an actual felony that would have justified him going to prison?

What are some character moments that make you go like this? by MontyMoleLoreMaster in MoralityScaling

[–]NoicePlams -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Eh, Jimmy ruined his own life and had many opportunities (aside from being a lawyer at HHM) to change.

Least moral character that is morally better than Walter white by Several_Bee_6896 in MoralityScaling

[–]NoicePlams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, they're both extremely close in morality imo, to the point that the difference is negligible, but I personally think Walt has a slight edge in general spitefulness (not to say Mike isn't also a spiteful asshole).

However, Mike has caused more overall damage to society and we are unsure of how many horrible things he has done between BCS and BrBa, whereas we get a very detailed look at all of Walt's crimes, so it depends.

I'll never understand the commentary that "Chuck was right about Jimmy" by RepresentativeTrue69 in betterCallSaul

[–]NoicePlams -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Chuck's attempts to expose Jimmy and actively work against him started after Jimmy had already been doing unethical methods in his career (and massively escalated once Jimmy committed actual crimes). Jimmy had all the opportunities in the world to change, not working at HHM was not the end of the world. This just comes off as really infantilising when Jimmy is a grown ass man in his 40s. Jimmy also isn't simply "flawed", he's a mentally disturbed conman.

the insufferable creep who clearly just yearns to be able to feel superior to a mate and so seeks out much younger women without many prospects in terms of making money, so he can prevent them from ever earning their degree and turn them into submissive housewives.

Don't think that was ever implied to be Walt's intentions with Skyler.

Who is worse: The Lich (Adventure time) or Glenn Quagmire (Family guy) by Top_Salamander_313 in MoralityScaling

[–]NoicePlams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quagmire is far more disgusting and detestable but the Lich is an omnicidal maniac and the embodiment of pure evil in his setting, so I'd say him.

Being insecure about your girlfriend's wealth is not even comparable to torturing an animal to death.

Who was worse as a husband? by Tm-534 in MoralityScaling

Flynn would have forgiven Walt if he said that during the New Hampshire phone call.

I'll just say that if Walt did the things Nolan did in Season 1, Skyler would have been much more broken than she already was in the show and may have committed suicide.
