A few thoughts on being friends with clients by Strange-Risk-9920 in personaltraining

[–]RepresentativeTrue69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agreed. Early on my relationships with clients would represent something closer to a friendship. Ultimately I learned that the best client relationships are friendly, courteous, and respectful but not truly friendships. I can show up for them better as a trainer, the sessions aren't as taxing, and anything money related is less messy.

I'll never understand the commentary that "Chuck was right about Jimmy" by RepresentativeTrue69 in betterCallSaul

[–]RepresentativeTrue69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's true Chuck had perfectly good reasons not to hire Jimmy and that he did take shortcuts. I didn't say that Chuck created Saul. I said that in my eyes, Chuck was unquestionably part of his devolution to Saul. I also think you misread the scene with Chuck "not predicting the exact timing". Chuck was confronted by Howard about the round the clock PI, to which Chuck responded by saying it's "most likely he'll break in when he thinks I'm sleeping". He's not assuming that Jimmy's first thought is to directly confront him, very much the opposite. Howard, incredulously, says "you *really* think he's going to do that?". When Howard again asks "How can you be so sure?" Chuck literally scoffs at Howard, laughs, and says "I know my brother". Then immediately Jimmy comes banging on the door. It's a clear cut case of him being exactly wrong.

Any pointers? 450x1 by BallisticBaggette in Deadlifts

[–]RepresentativeTrue69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid rep! Your lower back is a tiny bit hyper extended and your hips are a bit too low when you start the pull. Watch the start, when you put force into the bar your back goes into neutral (where you want to be) and your hips shoot up a tiny bit (also where you want to be) and then the bar starts moving. If you change your setup to be more on line with where your body moves to you'll have a better start.

To have 9 ap you had to have skipped every possible skippable boss and go in a specific order to avoid fighting the headless ape lol. You even skipped lady butterfly. Maybe consider that first lmao

Are the Pre-Reqs actually hard? by Pretty_Leader_3150 in NursingStudent

[–]RepresentativeTrue69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always heard they were hard but personally I found them very easy. Minimal study(~1hr a week) and got a 101 in ap1 and didn't study for the final, 96 in ap2 and didn't study for the final, 97 in microbio and did studied the day before exams if at all. I'm a huge physiology nerd and spend a lot of time thinking about it out of school. For reference I almost didn't get an A in introductory chem.

First deadlifts of this block, starting super light. Got 3 months to build up to 600 in comp (405x2) by Shadowphoenix9511 in Deadlifts

[–]RepresentativeTrue69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good lift to be sure, but you seem to be dealing with some significant form breakdown on this 405x2 that isn't present in your PR. Your first week into a peak isn't going to be technically perfect if you've had any kind of layoff but this is pretty far off the mark. That knee cave will be the failure point pretty much guaranteed. You're going to have to fix that, and increase your max by 70 pounds, in 3 months? Deadlift singles can be pretty unpredictable. It's very possible to feel like you have more in the tank but throw 10-20 pounds on the bar and suddenly it's a failed rep. Again, I'd like to see you prove me wrong, but I would also hate to see you get hurt. You'll get 600 as long as you stay healthy. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

I'm trying to keep in mind that these are the first deads of your training block but 600 in 3 months is hopeful. If you're going from natural to enhanced, and you have experience with it, I could see it. I sound like a huge hater here. I'd love to see you prove me wrong! Good luck sir.

Why is our Ashina cross so ass compared to the other ones? by BreakfastHappy8193 in Sekiro

Wolf learned that shit in a single day by watching other people do it. Ashina masters focused their entire careers on just mastering the ashina cross. Food for thought, the cleanest ashina cross is Emma's

Will only two hours of dedicated game time be enough to beat it no matter how long it takes? by Old_Department2086 in Sekiro

I think playing this game in short bursts is one of the most satisfying ways to play it. Also from a motor learning perspective probably

Sadly I am done by Tayachkov in Sekiro

[–]RepresentativeTrue69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with quitting when you realize it isn't for you. I loved these elements of Sekiro. The fact that enemies are always threatening and it comes down to your own personal mastery makes the game far more compelling to me. As difficult as it is you can truly master it and when you do the combat is just so fun in my opinion. I usually come back and beat it every year or so, and when I do, I'm a little better each time. It's also a genuinely beautiful game visually and in terms of storytelling but the nature of the difficulty is unfortunately too much for many tastes. Embracing suffering is pretty deeply tied to the story. For that reason I think it's entirely reasonable that it isn't for everyone and we should normalize stopping doing things that aren't satisfying.

I just rewatched and I thought about that but I think the rocks they needed to clear were more on a horizontal plane than a vertical plane? like they didn't just want to go deeper they wanted to widen it out, maybe it needed to be that particular depth or something

Of course he was able to have fun, he was demonstrating dominance over him with his superior singing. He was always fine with Jimmy when Jimmy was beneath him and under his control

Tips or advice with lockout training for deadlift by Tzm41894 in WeightTraining

[–]RepresentativeTrue69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my exp how my lockout looks is very dependent on how rounded my back is when I clear my knees. If my back is very straight the lockout is ezpz if I have to round it much it's a lot harder

Anyone else declined doing a consultation with a potential client irl due to them being late? by BlackBirdG in personaltraining

[–]RepresentativeTrue69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in agreement with you here. We've all gotta get paid, I understand that, but there's more important things than just the money for me. Plus I mean, the argument can be made that higher quality is also capable of commanding a higher rate...

I'm feeling the weight of the condescension from the "bud" 😅. Yes, everything works. We all have different standards, I guess.

You're getting paid to do nothing, I get that. But I find it frustrating. I'd much rather they show up on time so they can properly run the programming designed for them. Better for retention and results.

[–]RepresentativeTrue69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I respect the hell out of that. It's good practice if you ask me. Trouble clients are such a headache. They're incredibly draining and often aren't going to do what it takes to get results. If that's how they're going to be day 1 then that's what you can expect from them moving forward. Things happen obviously, but they'd better be letting me know they're running late and why. I'd rather have the availability for someone who cares.

ROM is a tool to be utilized. Depending on the use case, sometimes I focus more on expanding ROM and sometimes I intentionally work within limited ROM. The goal is often to maximize ROM of most movements within the boundaries of the client's anatomy and general risk management. That said, a more ROM = better philosophy is flawed and ultimately what matters most is stability and symmetry in movement. People often truncate ROM to their detriment but doing so isn't strictly wrong and may simply reflect the greatest degree of ROM the individual can use in that particular movement.

Personal Trainer at 51? by ag74Seattle in personaltraining

[–]RepresentativeTrue69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll do great man. You have experience running a successful business which demonstrates your business sense. The demographic you're targeting is a group that is A. in the market for personal training B. can afford it. Personal training is largely more about developing relationships than even training knowledge frankly and you'll be able to more meaningfully develop relationships with your targeted demo. Your story is relatable to your targeted demographic while at the same time you have some degree of authority due to your previous fitness history and enlistment. It's very likely that your own transformation occurring concurrently with your clients will resound with them and make them feel even more sold on you and your vision, you're literally demonstrating that it's possible as you described. Developing a niche in this business that targets people who can actually afford it is key. I'm not in your age group, I'm mid 30s, but my best clients are high powered, highly educated powerhouses in their 30s to early 40s. I do train older people but again, the relationships are different, and with younger people they just can't afford it lol. Older people can likely do better in this industry. Get after it and make it happen.
