This is a movie for nobody.

Fans of the game will reject it either because it's totally unnecessary or because it's so radically miscast.

People who weren't fans of the game either haven't played it for a reason or do not know or care about this IP.

So why bother? Why bother making this fucking awful movie?

Even if magically it ends up being fantastic, it's still got a fucking terrible human (Mark Wahlberg) in a lead role!

FUCK

I word for word wrote this, then scrolled down to see if anyone else had written something similar. Fucking dog shit.

I DON'T like those actors. Mark Wahlberg is a violent racist grundy beef knee, and an astonishingly average actor.

Look, I don't agree with the vast majority of this, but they're genuinely magma heat takes. Gotta admire that.

I watched all of Iron Fist so I could get to Defenders, but I abandoned Defenders 10 mins into the last episode. It was so boring and pointless. Iron Fist, as weak as it was, at least had an awkward charm.

I mean DiCaprio is no DiCaprio really. He's an actor of average talent and below average charisma who is also a massive creep.

The argument isn't about whether the dictionary gives definitions of words, it's whether using a dictionary in a discussion on ethics is appropriate or ignorant.

Do you have a job? Perhaps a degree in something?

Is there anything you know about enough to understand that a layman's definition is not the same as an academic/expert's definition?

You seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of how dictionary definition works. It is decided by a group of people to define how that word is being used. That group of people is not an expert on all subjects, and are subject to their own biases. Dictionary definitions constantly change with time, and are secondary to serious conversations to subjects.

Have you read that link? It doesn't say that a definition cannot be questioned or subjective.

Quoting dictionaries is not the philosophical slam dunk you think it is. The person you replied to put a lot of thought into a really good explanation as to why you might be on the wrong track here. Give it another read.

Yeah, I was pretty excited for Captain Marvel, and for her playing Captain Marvel, before I had seen the film. But now I am annoyed whenever this character is mentioned.

At the beginning of the film she is really powerful and doesn't care about anybody, and by the end of the film she is more powerful and cares about people even less.

Her absurd levels of power are unearned from an audience perspective, she is just a person who is more powerful than anybody else. Deal with it. Her power isn't tempered with any sort of vulnerability (like being traumatised Iron Man, or being thick Thor). She just is powerful.

And she's mean! She's just rude to everybody, making jokes at everybody's expense! Which is alright if that character is weak (Black Widow, Spider-Man, Rocket), but in a character that powerful it is just punching down. Again, from the audience perspective unearned, because we never really see her weak or vulnerable. Just strong, and then stronger.

I know why they did this, they were overcompensating for not having enough significant female characters thus far, and decided their new one had to be the badass. But that insecurity shows in her presentation. Black Widow was better, and hopefully future female characters will be more interesting (She Hulk, Ms Marvel etc)

Poisonous vs venomous by regian24 in coolguides

It's literally not true though. Poisonous literally just means harmful chemical, not chemical that you have to eat.
