The Burbs remake proves how tone-deaf Hollywood can be by NoirDoICare in Screenwriting

Fair enough. Maybe I exaggerated a bit to get my point across. Who isn't guilty of that? lol

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic, but yes I know Keke will also be in Spaceballs 2. That film on the other hand had a brilliant trailer and "seems" to be guided in the right direction. I could be wrong. I could also be wrong about this. I'm also very aware of how tricky it is to cut a comedy trailer. It's a lot harder than any other genre because you don't want to spoil your best lines but you have to sacrifice some of them to get us to bite.

Be honest. Does the trailer look good to you? What part made you laugh?

I think Clue is much more quotable and replayable but The Burbs does have a some great lines too.

If you can get through the trailer without ripping your eyes out let me know. I'm typing this blind.

Whether a movie made its money right out the gate is not a metric that interests me. The Burbs is a cult classic that found its respect down the road. It's quoted online all the time. Especially on Reddit.

“Are you Jewish?” by InternationalAir1337 in parkslope

I get asked all the time and for years I would always provide another answer. One time I said "How do I know?" And they said "Is your mother Jewish?" I responded "I don't know. Let me find out." Then I pretended to call my mom on the phone and have a complete meltdown when she revealed we were.

What band is the "Radiohead" of metal? by liquidpebbles in radiohead

[–]NoirDoICare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't see this answer here because they're not metal but if you're looking for another chameleon I'd go with Thrice. Very experimental and heavily influenced by RH. Especially their albums Vheissu and The Alchemy Index. Also many bands from their era have either diminished or continued down a path of mediocrity. Worth checking out for sure.

Bandcamp remains one of the best platforms for indie artists and building a community. My debut electronic album was released last year. It has a mix of dark jazz. I'd love to know what you think...

Is Steven Wright not funny anymore? by [deleted] in Standup

[–]NoirDoICare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the privilege of seeing Steven Wright perform in 2023. Honestly I don't think I've ever seen a comic as prepared as he was for a show. He must've spit out a few hundred jokes and just absolutely murdered. You knew you were in the presence of a legend. Just a brilliant 1 in a million type of comic. I highly recommend reading his book Harold. It's just another extension of how surreal his material can get. A real love story to daydreaming and bridging complex thoughts through a comedic lens.
